In my head canon the flashbacks of Luthen in the Imperial military happen around the same time as the Battle of Mimban in Solo or it might even be Mimban, just another angle of the same surface operation and this time from Luthen's P.O.V.

This needs to be emphasized. For every Andor and Rogue One with their dire consequences, I want fun adventures like  Solo and Skeleton Crew.

Despite it's ending Rogue One is also lots of fun. Don't forget The Mandalorian as well or The Clone Wars or Rebels or The Bad Batch.

I feel like it's gotta be a lot closer to ROTS, based on things like Kleya's age and Luthen's S1 reference about how long he's been a rebel.

What are the known canon wars of suppression the new Empire waged during its first couple of years of existence? The destruction of Kamino's cloning facilities and Tipoca City come to mind, but we know that Luthen's flashback wasn't there.

Yeah, as great as Andor is, I'd hate to see them decide to turn every Star Wars production into something like that. While it's a nice change of pace, the franchise really is meant to be things like Solo and Skeleton Crew.

The Acolyte should have worked better as it was also something different. Yet it suffered somehow.

Wrong talent was selected. While I liked 'Russian Doll" nothing about it says to me that the person making this really has the sensibilities to do SW. Same feeling with "The Eternals" for the MCU. I really enjoyed "Nomadland" but not something that really feels like it has sensibilities that would translate to a comic book universe.

I have this theory that the older a brand is the more old fashioned even the newer stuff must feel in order to feel connected to the things people first fell in love with it. You can update it to some degree such as more diversity and whatnot but any new stuff must always feel like it could have been liked in the time period in which the original stuff was made. That is why in Trek for example people didn't like "Discovery" but do like "Strange New Words."

SNW is modern but it also feels old school as well. "Andor" is very old school, despite it being different in terms of not providing much escapism. It's a show that would have fit right in if seen in the 1970's. At least the movies of that time period. Even it's approach to rebellion feels like it comes from yesteryear and something made to call attention to Nazis and that is real Nazi's as in Nazi Germany Nazi's as opposed to modern day villains which is just a bunch of tech nerds and Oligarchs smashing the system and taking all the money they can get, while some religious extremist in red states areas move in and try and get as much restrictions in before the progressives types are back in charge again.

That is why I have a good feeling about this Ryan Gosling movie. Sounds like "Top Gun" meets SW. Perfect match. Do wish Patty Jenkins would have been able to make this movie already and she got screwed because Wonder Woman 84 is actually a decent movie but still the premise is going to always be good and Ryan Gosling makes for a great lead.
