I just finished a complete rewatch of all of Red Dwarf on the Britbox streamer. It's the second time I've watched the revival seasons/specials, and the first time I've watched the original and revival (or original, first revival, and much later second revival) back-to-back. I think it's also the first time I've seen the un-Remastered versions of the first few seasons, at least since they originally ran on PBS way back when -- although the series title card on Britbox misleadingly uses the Remastered logo.
It's weird -- my impression the first time around with the revival was that Back to Earth was terrible and Series 10-12 were decent but far short of the series's prime, though I liked The Promised Land. This time around, I found that BtE was kind of okay, Series 10-12 were often quite good and felt true to the spirit of the original run, and TPL is possibly the best thing they've ever done. It's Series 8, especially its latter half, that's the nadir of the series. I never felt the solo-Naylor Series 7-8 were as good as the Grant-Naylor seasons, but Naylor's work on the revival has been much better. Maybe seeing the revival stuff after the low point of Series 8 has improved it in my eyes.
