It's literally what ticks me off youtube. So many people that gain an audience and a platform. I couldn't finish his video it just got too much with the complaining.

We are in the age of narcissism where everyone believes that they are ultimately right and everyone should do/think/act as they say because they're the greatest. "Social" media will be the ultimate downfall of human civilisation, or at least civility.

It's alright not to like things and explain rational behind it, that doesn't mean you're right, likewise for someone who comes out in favour of the same thing. Taste and preference are highly subjective and individualistic, doesn't make it wrong until it strays into personal attacks and harassment.

I'm looking forward to it, it's a new take on looking at the action from the people we normally view as extras (TNG's "Lower Decks" was a great episode), and the style does remind me of Rick and Morty which does tell some batshit crazy sci-fi stories and doesn't treat its audience like idiots.

But what I find telling is that all of his arguments basically boil down to either misogynistic and racist talking points or the trite “it's different/new and therefore it sucks”. He's one of those people who throw a tantrum because the status quo is upset and their privilege is being perceived as threatened. Even the very idea of a Trek show not being catered to his spoiled notion of what constitutes “True Trek” has him on the defensive.

Frankly, the realization that that's exactly how a portion of Trek fans feels is always kind of sobering. When I was younger and more naive I used to think of Trek fans as enlightened, progressive, welcoming, open and curious people. It's sad to realize a chunk of them are just plain old assholes.

But that's been true for many years, and not just Star Trek, a lot of scifi fandoms have these pockets of fans that are the exact opposite of the shows they love to watch. Yet they still watch the shows go figure.

Yeah, I know. I just view it through the Star Trek lens, because that's the thing I care about. Misogynistic assholes are neither new nor unique to Trek. Unfortunately.

No way am I clicking that. Fans put Trek on some pedestal, when it's meant to be entertainment. It entertains me, I'm happy.

And if it's existence upsets them, that makes me more happy.

But the thing is the people that scream modern Star Trek is full of SJW agendas clearly haven't watched any of the whole of TOS. That was literally what it was all about.

He says "I guess the objective here is to target kids...", and then goes on to tell us why it's not appropriate for kids. However, there is no reason for him to think that its intended target is kids. There are plenty of younger adults who like this style of humor and enjoy this type of animated TV show.

His attitude of "I don't like this style of entertainment, so nobody should" is terribly conceited and egotistical. So it's not for him; that's fine. However, he shouldn't keep going on about how no self-respecting Star Trek fan should like it, because that is quite rude.
