I don't quite get the problem with the question. In an abandon ship situation I would - get out of there.

Kind of reminds me of when you fly and they tell you that if you are travelling with a child put your own oxygen mask on first and THEN worry about the kid

Agreed...but I probably wold at least stop to check that others were making it out okay. (before my pod takes off of course)

I think it depends...if I had very close friends or a spouse i would make sure they were safe first

With the entire bridge crew since they are more than likely responsible for making me squeeze into an escape pod with people I may or may not like in the first place.

I must admit to being on a life raft (used as a tender) and experiencing claustrophobia. In an emergency situation it would have been even more packed in.
