Spoilers All about Kovich...

Do we know if this is a Daniels that lived from his time and the end of the war, up until DSC, or did he get trapped in the future at some point during a mission/his final mission and end up stuck after the time travel ban? hmm.
That's what I wondered. The "U.S.S. Enterprise" line sounded like if he came from one of the past ones, like Kirk's ship.

And thats interesting, because he could have been referring to his time infiltrating Archer's ship as a crewman, or he could be referencing an earlier origin on ANY Enterprise that he was drafted into the Temporal Corps from.

It could be a reference to the NX-01, but that ship was usually referred to just as "Enterprise". It could be that or any subsequent Enterprise, but it felt like it could be the TOS Enterprise since he didn't mention any letter or the NX-01 registry. But I'm just spitballing here.

Although as mentioned earlier in this thread, though the NX-01 was not meant to be USS Enterprise, computer displays seen throughout Enterprise did refer to it as USS Enterprise anyway. Though perhaps most damning, the NX-01 itself actually did have USS Enterprise NX-01 on its hull when seen at the Starfleet Museum in S3 of Picard.

Are we sure about that? It's not legible in the episode or the screencap of the "trading card," though the caption says "U.S.S."

If the model was unchanged from the NX-refit that had been used in official Trek products up to that point, it'd say "S.S. Enterprise."

It's possible he returned during the time, we don't know anything about, between the other episodes of Season 4 of ENT and the finale! Becoming a real part of the crew this time for years, maybe because of some temporal manipulations caused by future Romulans, as already seen at in Season 2 of SNW. Maybe they were trying to change the outcome of the Romulan War....

An advanced group of future romulans that came to be during the fluxuations tonthe timeline at the end of First Contact. I have always speculated this moment caused the meddling on our end to begin to ensure the formation of the federation for Picard to return to, and it could make sense that one of the other ends in this battle is an empire fighting for its existence, especially if said future romulans know about not only the romulan war but about the future of Romulus in general.

We won't know that until the comic book or novel comes out.

But that was from a timeline that was erased when Earth was saved. The new Enterprise J might look really different .

It won't. Trek's rarely that original and creative.

The 1701-J will still happen and be more or less what we saw in that timeline.

When Kovich's identity was first happened, I did not like it. I thought that there were better choices for the reveal. Odo. Flint. Future Guy, if they wanted an ENT reference.

Now, a few weeks later, I don’t really care.

Kovich could have been revealed as Captain Picard. He could have been revealed to be Mick Jagger. He could have been revealed as Batman. It would not matter. I would still be asking “Why?”

This is what DIS does – attach itself to more popular shows to look cool, only to end up further from that goal than intended. Made worse by the fact that other shows like Lower Decks and Picard handled their references to past shows better and much smoother than Discovery does.

Even I, a hater of "Enterprise," loved that twist. I hope we see more of him in future series.

In the meantime, let's speculate on what else he might have on his shelf: Neelix's Talaxian fur-fly, Ro Laren's earring, Quark's singing mug....

Kovich has been my favourite Discovery character. I'm not sure how I feel about this revelation. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.
Did we particularly learn a lot about Daniels in "Enterprise?" I didn't watch that show religiously, so maybe we did. Far as I can tell though, it doesn't change much about Kovich except male him more intriguing.
