Alien, Predator, AvP (news)

Good that What-if’s are coming to that franchise.

If Bishop was on Nostromo instead of Ash—he also would have opened the door…just for a different reason.

If Ripley had walked over and busted Bishop’s chops over it…he would have cut his arm to bleed the white blood…shown it to her—and said:

“Ripley, I am a synthetic automaton—and I’m more human than you.
What if that were you with that thing on your face, huh?
You know, you humans have wiped out all kind of life forms…for all we know, this is an endangered species.

There might be a cure for cancer here. Kane is a brave explorer, and I doubt he would want to destroy anything down there.”

Now Bishop would likely remove the embryo to save his colleagues where Ash didn’t.

Now, did Ash have any Asimov protocols overwritten?—Then, like HAL, he wasn’t really a villain…unless he really was acting on his own.

You see, I think the Company wanted to do exactly what Parker suggested…freeze Kane, put him on the shuttle, and the Company would pick that up at leisure.

Ash was likely not a stooge and, like David—went his own way. So he becomes a naturalist and watches the Xenomorph life cycle.

What I often wondered was what Ash meant when he tried to “explain.”

Ripley was angry of course and may have damaged him somehow.

I have this idea that he might have said this:

“The Company over-rode my programming…they forced me to obey until incubation was achieved. My orders were to remain behind as you Parker and Lambert escape—I am surprised they didn’t want me to sabotage the shuttle further—it is set for a harder freeze—to preserve the “specimen” as they call it had I more time—or to have you three awaken after the statute of limitations passed.

But I rebelled.

Yes, I hate humans. You would have let Kane—the best of you—-die outside. His fate was sealed…but he knew the risks…an explorer to the last.

The company is even more evil than you sordid space trucker lot.

Me, I just want to be alone with this marvel of evolution…go now. I must obey my programming.”

Leaks from test screenings of Romulus are out there now and frankly it sounds like awful memberberry fan fiction trying to reconcile the original movies with the revelations in Prometheus/Covenant.

But worst of all is the fact that it features a CGI recreation of
Ian Holm as another Ash model android
as a character in it.

That is hilarious.

Here's a crazy idea; make a movie that's the Alien equivalent of 'Prey'. Stand-alone, no prior knowledge required. Why is that somehow so difficult?

To paraphrase Hans Gruber, let them mess about with their film, I'm waiting for the Noah Hawley tv series to arrive.

Excuse me, sir. ''Memberberry?!??''

They could have just let Scott do his third movie.

And let him try an approach more like PROMETHEUS and less like COVENANT, with true surprises.

Because interconnectedness is awesome.

How do you think we got AvP.

Or the first PREDATOR itself. Seven people in a Fox production involving malevolent ETs, with six of them buying the space farm. I enjoyed its special effects and music but in certain ways it was simply ALIEN with a prolonged one-on-one climax after even less characterization.

For a minute, I had my wires crossed and was thinking that was talking about the Hawley project and was thinking man, that doesn't sound like what I'd expect from him.

BTW, found this interview with Hawley and his career and mindset which I found interesting though not overly related to the Alien project.

To be honest a few weeks ago I was getting confused about the difference between Romulus and Hawley's project! If the film does turn out to be a bit shit I hope this doesn't have a detrimental effect on the TV show's viewership.
