Alien civilisations too stupid to exist.

The appearance of an alien intelligence represents a threat to religion's influence, and especially to biblical literalists who have their claws wrapped around the balls of a political majority. They'd do just about anything to maintain even the illusion of control over the situation.

But control is all they are after. Always has been but what if an alien race came to Earth and then said "well we worship the same god" and that would also upset them no doubt.

IF we make First Contact with Outerspace Aliens, you have my assurances that I would not lose faith in The Good Book. It would have absolutely no effect on my beliefs, at all, outside of the question of "... Does Alien Life Exist?" Yes, there have been abuses of power by leadership within The Church and a reticence to lose any of that power. Oh, how the press loves bringing that point up. But even V'GER in the faerie tale STAR TREK: The Motion Picture needs faith, despite possessing the keenest intellect in all The Known Universe.

Yes I meant that I forgot an R But with CRISPR we could engineer bone blades on arms and all sorts of wacky things.
Maybe - if you can get the protein production to start at all and to occur in the right places. It's reportedly very hit and miss with multicellular organisms and a lot more reliable with zygotes. There's lots of potential for errors to creep in - some potentially fatal if abnormal mutation occurs. One can end up editing bits of the genetic code other than what were intended. Some loony people apparently experiment on themselves - the tech is supposedly readily available and not expensive. Legislation is way behind the curve on this.
