ALICE IN WONDERLAND teaser now online

My first thought was, "Alice looks at least 20 years old," so I looked her up and yep, she's 20 ... um, Alice is supposed to be a little girl, not a woman. My second thought was, "This looks like it should be called The Mad Hatter with a special appearance by Alice" ... as with most Tim Burton movies, Johnny Depp is being crammed down our throats. I think I'll reread the books instead.

I certainly see how people might dislike his films. Or get bored with the similar tone and visual style.
True, but we're talking about the guy who made "Batman", "Ed Wood" and "Big Fish", so I'm not even sure I understand the "similar tone" accusations, actually.

Here's the deal:

This really should have been given a different title. It is actually a sequel to Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. She is *supposed* to be 20 (actually, I think she's 17 or 18 in the movie, can't remember).

As for the whole "Mad Hatter is getting more attention than Alice" thing... Well, DUH. Mad Hatter is played by Johnny Depp. Alice is played by Mia... whatever-her-last-name-is. Who would YOU be hinging your publicity on?

And just because this first teaser trailer features the Mad Hatter doesn't mean we won't have future ones that feature other characters... It may be that there'll be at least four teasers--one each for the Hatter, Alice, Red Queen, and White Queen. They're playing up the whole "army" thing on Facebook, so maybe each of the main characters will get their own teaser trailer as well, to drum up "recruits". Each one already has their own teaser poster.

I just wouldn't worry. This is only the very first look we've gotten from the movie. It comes out in March; there's plenty of time for more teasers that don't focus on the Mad Hatter.

It has a different title, actually. It is called Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll's first book was called Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

I wonder if it should have a different title just based on one of Disney's animated classics of the same name. Like it or not (And who knows, maybe people these days are calling the animated Alice in Wonderland a bad film), it was still a Disney classic after all these years.

That and many people just have the misconseption that the first book is actually called Alice in Wonderland and not Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

I need to pop in to the used bookstore the next time I'm in Knoxville and grab a copy of Alice'. Used to read that book from cover to cover once a year back in the day.
