*psst* I took that part as his dry humor. He wasn't being serious there.
That said, I wish him and his family well and keep them in my prayers.

He's from where I live. I have a friend who even claimed to be related to him, and while I don't know if it's true, I can kind of even see the resemblance through his father. He hosted many other gameshows before landing Jeopardy and making his mark on that. One of my favourites was Classic Concentration, and another one would be Pitfall.
Well done.
I was wondering if there was a tasteful or empowering way to pay tribute to Mr. Trebek/Jeopardy! that doesn't minimize the scourge that is cancer and this is it.

Typically, yes, but there have been notable exceptions. Patrick Swayze lasted a year and a half after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Still Trebek was joking about how his contract was for three years. I hope he makes it but the numbers are against him. Just enjoy every day as you can.
I took his treatment announcement to mean he's beginning treatment today, and will continue to work for the duration as he receives treatment.

Locally, there have been some Alex Trebek pins being sold with the proceeds going to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in Canada.
