Also, i enjoy scotch. :D

What about you?
I like to try different varieties of craft beer, leaning either to hoppy or dark.
I also really like good bourbon and whiskey.
I've just begun to get into scotch, and it's rare that I run into other people who enjoy it. I'd like to know who here likes scotch and what brands are their favorite. Personally, I love Macallan's, GlenLivet and Glen Morangie.

As i just got into scotch, i haven't tried any of the more higher end scotchs. What i have is a bottle of Ballantine's Finest. It's what i was able to find in the store and it was in the medium price range, so why not? I like it.

^I haven't had Ballantine's yet. Did you buy their single malt or a blend? From what I've read their blend is better than many average single malts.

I tried some Ballantine's a while back. I think their 12 or 17 year. As I said upthread, I'm not one for neat spirits, but out of all the whisky I've tried, it was the most palatable. It has a pleasant mellow sweetness to it to balance out the heat. Still not really something I'd want to drink regularly. I don't think I've got a head for whisky.

Thanks for the recommendations. I didn't use to care for whiskey either. When I first started drinking I was putting jolly ranchers in the bottom of Zima's (this was back before they had flavored malt beverages.) Pretty gay, I know. Since then I have acquired a taste for good beer and liquor. Believe me scotch is a world away from zima.

This is for another thread but i will say this and then move on: i am gay and so i do find that rather insulting. All i ask is for you to not say that. Thank you.
I sincerely apologize. A poor choice of words on my part. I'm very sorry that I offended you.

I'm not overly offended, as such. I understand your context. It's just an unfortunate choice of words. I'll get off my soap box and move on. Apology accepted.

^Thank you for being so kind, but now I'm going to feel bad for the rest of the day. :( Of course that's my fault, not yours.

hmmm, perhaps Highland Park. It's good if you like a strong peat flavor, and it's strong even for scotch.

As i am just getting into scotch, i believe i will postpone on that one. The Ballantine's is rather smooth but not as strong as i guess scotch can be.

I'm a big fan of scotch, especially single malts. I love Macallan's, Talisker and drank Glen Morangie for sometime. My current favorite that I always make sure to keep on hand is Balvenie, especially their 12 year old Doublewood.

It's nicely smooth, not too peaty, sweet but not too, too sweet, a tiny touch smokey and really relatively affordable (I can usually find it on sale for around $45 here.) In fact, I'm looking forward to coming home tonight and, after dinner, retiring to my patio with a glass and a cigar. It's what's going to get me through the day.

And not to beat a dead horse, but I just have to say about this ....

I like you even more now. We recently had an entire thread on this topic, that went of for pages and pages and days and days, and there were still people who didn't get it. You're a somewhat rare bird around these parts: sensitive to others' feelings, like scotch, and Buffett (not to mention Trek). If I had a sister, I'd want to set you up with her.
