AICN is hinting that Nick Meyer is working on a Khan project + "loads of Trek projects in production

I think the ship has sailed on Captain Sulu. 20 years ago was the time for that. If the TOS cast, including Shatner were to ever make another appearance, now would be the time. Or very soon. They aren't getting any younger, and at those ages a significant turn for the worse in health can happen at any time. Shatner can go from being 85 and looking 68 to 89 and looking 89. I wouldn't wait too much longer for them.

Good Prime universe areas following from the established settings that would allow appearances of characters at realistic ages might be

1. Daedalus Class Enterprise, 2160s
2. Enterprise F, 2390s
3. Enterprise B, 2310s

NuTrek stories would be good as well, but I would also like to see some reboot/3rd timeline Trek. Let someone take a totally fresh take on the whole thing.

I doubt it would happen but a Star Trek: Titan where Riker hands command to a younger captain would be cool. I also like the starfleet Academy.

I don't have a preference for Titan or Enterprise F for 2390s continuation. Either way, new ship/crew/captain is achieved.

After George's stupid behavior as of late, I don't want a Captain Sulu series. Plus, as somebody already pointed out, the time for that is passed.

However, the time for a Captain LaForge or even Captain Riker series, is not passed. Note I did not say Captain Worf -- because it will never happen. sorry, Dorn.

And there's so much to play with in Trek -- Nick doesn't have to be limited to Captain _____ series. It could be a C.S.I. Trek show, it could be a secret tactical ops section show, a Section 31 show, one-off stories depicting important events, etc. Hell, even a double agent with a Romulan feeding information to the Federation. So many possibilities.

The only Captain Sulu we might see in the future is John Cho Sulu. I think the TNG-DS9-VOY characters can play a supporting role in a 2390s+ show, but I cant imagine it wouldn't be built around a new ship/cast/crew if it happens at all.

Or someone could have even done a series of documentaries about Federation history, with re enactments of famous battles, and interviews with important and significant historical survivors. It could have started with something like crazy Garth's story, and spun off into an anthology series documenting various parts of the Federations history and future. Too bad it would have never worked, and no one ever thought of that before!

:P

I'm having a hard enough time mustering up enthusiasm for Discovery.
I was really enthusiastic last fall, now it's just kind of "yeah I'll watch the first episode."
I really hate these sites which take one line of an interview and spin it into wild speculation ...
Isn't that basically what we do here? And look at all the speculation and theories that came out of the Discovery promo video.

It's to late i'm sure and i'm not even sure if the actor is still alive but I kind of like the idea of doing a Morarity movie with Count Regina on a holodeck adventure. Meyer does have a history of writing for that character.

Jason

What I've noticed is that fan speculation about franchise extensions like this always orient around an aging actor. What Hollywood usually does is create all new characters or recast existing characters. The exceptions to the rule happen in film (like with Harrison Ford or Stallone who have made a career out of making sequels decades later).

I don't know. A George Takei Captain Sulu animated series isn't impossible, especially if it's designed to last only a few seasons.

I'd prefer a "Batman '66" style animated movie, where Shatner, Nichols, Takei, Koenig, and Chris Doohan reprise their roles in an animated adventure set sometime during TOS or Phase II. McCoy and Spock can be either written out for plot reasons or recast with impersonators.

That's my point; it carries no more value than any forum post speculation but is treated as if it does. The very title of this thread implies that the speculation here carries some weight. It means as much as if I were to post a thread saying "Ketrick reports that a George Takei Captain Sulu series may be on the way!"

I can see that around the year 2066.

CGI and voice capture will be so good--that this will seem like child's play

"Star Trek - The other wrath of Khan..this time he will win"

The Wraith of Khan.
Khan's ghost comes back to haunt Kirk. You know, typical poltergiest stuff. Pulls the covers off his feet while he's sleeping so his toes get cold. (revenge is a dish best served cold) Flipping books off the shelf. Pushing the pod eject button on Commander Finney. That kind of stuff

I want to watch it but I'll be damned if I'm going to subscribe to a streaming service to watch one show. I suppose I should check it out to see if there's anything else of value on CBS All Access

Chris Doohan? James Doohan will need a seance

I'd say they should see at first if Disco is going to be sucessful before they invest into "loads" of projects but that's the way the movie and tv industry works today I guess.

You don't make one film any more, you plan at least two sequels and advertise a "mulitverse" long before you see if your film is a flop or not.

Why? His son does a great take on Scotty, and would fit right in with the original cast in an animated production. No reason to write the character out, or get an impersonator, when there is an actual Doohan already playing the part in the modern day.
