Are you going to replicate the on-screen season 3 or season 4 appearance, or give it your own twist?
I like the new uniforms for S4, but they're still off in a few ways.
First, the ranks are now triply redundant. They're on the neck, the shoulders and the combage. That's just sloppy. Pick one (neck IMO).
Secondly, the shoulder and neck devices. I get what they're going for, but it doesn't work. Pick one. (neck imo).
Thirdly, the S3/S4 Combage continues to be a useless low definition blob on screen. It's a bad design. It just doesn't work its size, the lighting and the material its made of. The arrowhead should pop and this doesn't. Picard did it right. This needs to chainge.
It's close. But not quite there. The color changes as good - a real interesting mix of both TNG and TOS. But I still, some of the pre-3188 uniforms look better. And the uniforms of 29th Century Starfleet from Relativity are better still.

Have to agree.... the buck rogers shoulders and glitter uniforms are utterly ridiculous. At least SNW look much better without the asymmetry BS their untalented costume designer seems to think.I'm sorry, but I've really hated all of the Starfleet uniforms introduced in DIS. They're all my least favorite Starfleet uniforms, and the new Season 4 versions aren't much of an improvement to me.

It's not the navy though. And asymmetry is now baked in....stupid TNG.
Nautical jargon: ships, shoreleave, skipper
Navy ranks: cheif, Lieutenant commander
equals space Navy, and TNG was the superior trek.
edit: As is the Orville now the superior version over Dark Trek
Mileage will vary. I may not like all the uniforms of recent Trek but good grief was TNG the least practical.
oh, i agree with you there, especially the S 1 & 2 skintights. but as least the addition of the collars was more stylish, and moreover *two* of them
It was enough to save them.
The funniest thing to me, upon further reflection, is the newer uniforms all feel the closest to TNG to me. Unfortunately.

I really like the crew dress uniform. It's much better than the standard uniform. The captains dress uniform would be nice if it didn't have the catholic priest vibes on the neck.
