She gets it just fine. She just has artistic goals that differ from yours.

Why not? It makes perfect sense that different ranks of the officer corps could have different dress uniform designs. If it bothers you that much, just make something up for your headcannon -- maybe it's a cultural practice that evolved in Starfleet over the course of a thousand years. Maybe it originated with a species that joined the Federation and Starfleet adopted their practice.

No they don't. You just have a different aesthetic than Gershon and the producers.

I really don't see what the problem with that would be if the USCG did that.

Does it really bother you so much to imagine that the Starfleet of the 32nd Century might do a few things differently from the Starfleet of the 23rd and 24th Centuries?

I just don't like the Assymetry in the uniform.

I wish the Uniform was more Symmetrical.

Me too. There's just some kind of inherent fussiness over asymmetrical uniforms that I fell just doesn't look right. Granted, the "Monster Maroons" could arguably be considered asymmetrical, due to the overlapping tunic flap, but at least they look like they were measured and cut correctly. I always found the DSC collars unnecessarily distracting, and now we have the lower edges of the new uniforms (also appear to be tunic tops) that don't seem to match up flush with each other. It looks like the people putting together the uniforms mis-measured all the actors' torso lengths! Every time I see this I whisper, "why"?

Having the Neck Badge Rank Indicator & Symmetrical Epaulettes seem redundant, you only need one set IMO and Gershon should've gone with Symmetrical Shoulder Epaulettes only since that hasn't been done to my knowledge.

The closest thing would be the Monster Maroons, but that had only one shoulder, and it was the clasp for the Tunic.
So those were weird in that the rank markings were off center, canted at an angle.

    That was definitely a video.

Nice view of Vance's and Bryce's uniform, which both look excellent.

they look like the wearer started buttoning the jacket on the wrong hole, realized their mistake but said "Screw it" and kept going. I like the uniforms apart from this. There are fashion items from the past like extremely pointy shoes and fashion items from now like neckties that never made much sense to me either.

Fashion as a general rule never made sense to me. I look at fashion and just shake my head and then cry because people get paid way more money than I to come up with fashion.

This is why you and I will never be fashion designers.

Agreed, but again, that is not a rule of fashion. Or a lot of engineering items I run in to in my daily life. Aesthetics, and eye appeal are more preferential. And that is especially true in costume design in science fiction shows.

The ENT uniforms were practical in that regard.

That's why I loved those uniforms, they were pretty damn good.

    I love the NASA aesthetics.

I mean, it's a jumpsuit. It can't get more practical than that. As a costume piece it barely qualifies. The one plus is that it looked really good as a jumpsuit, which is a credit to the costumer designer. But, then, I'm always a sucker for a jumpsuit in an SF property. *dreams in Seaquest DSV*

They just don’t look either comfortable or practical.
I imagine that in a temperature controlled environment like aboard ship you don’t need heavy woolen uniforms.
Also the multiple rank signifiers smack a little of banana republic aesthetic.
