Spoilers Ah, the NEW uniforms...!

That may be a part of it but, given the amount they have spent on creating and making all the 32nd Century Starfleet costumed for speaking parts and background extras, I would say that keeping the main cast and the rest of the Disco crew in the old 23rd Century blue uniforms is a conscious creative choice by the production team.

I would like to see the DISCO transition to the 32nd century uniforms, which I think look nice, but perhaps the creatives, if they intend to do it, are taking their time in a way to depict the crew acclimating to their new surroundings and their changed circumstances, as opposed to speedily putting on new uniforms like VOY did with the Maquis and even Seven of Nine IMO. Perhaps the uniform change will be an outward sign of growth/character change.

Though the gray uniforms of the future could also symbolize the stagnated, or morally gray state of the Federation, and DISCO provides that splash of color and vitality (as another poster alluded to) and holding on to, or reviving the old values of Starfleet/Federation. Perhaps by the end of the season the future Starfleet will adopt the DISCO uniforms, like how we saw the 24th century Romulans revive their 22nd century uniforms.

In "Die Trying", Admiral Vance called the Federation being in "triage". Perhaps Discovery pulling the Federation into Saru's Renaissance will lead to the launch of a brand-new USS Enterprise, the introduction of more colorful uniforms for everyone - Disco crew, Vance's Starfleet, services from rejoined planets (EDF).
Now that you’ve suggested it, I’m really looking forward to season 7 ending with the crew of Discovery watching the launch of the new USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-Z.

would they really be at Z? I mean looking at the J, that ship was a big as a Starbase and then some, I'm sure it lasted for a while. so i'm sure it would've cut down on future incarnations.

Let's not forget that the Enterprise-D in its day was seen as a grand starship, and meant to last 100 years in the TNGTM. Presumably, flagship duty is prestigious but shortens starship lifespans by that much.

What shortens life-spans of Galaxy Class StarShips are: "
- Ancient Iconian Software Computer Virus that can adapt and infect current day software and cause a Warp Core Breech
- Kamikaze attacks from Jem Hadar Scarab Fighters
- Malware that is planted in your Chieft Engineer's VISOR that leaks live video footage to your enemies and leaving your Shields at a static Frequency instead of automatic Random changing of Shield Frequencies

Yes. Plot devices. Devious little buggers; impossible to evade and far more destructive than warp-powered quantum anti-shipping mines...

Once detected they are unavoidable and invariably lethal.

The only known strategy is using the Guardian of Forever to go back and kill or reprogram the writers — but beware the law of unintended consequences...

:wtf:

They should have had the crew geek out about uniform evolution like they had over ships, showing them start replicating and wearing at random all the transitional designs.

It's a bit silly too trying to hide your time travel ship by wearing a 23rd century uniform.

But hey I get there are IRL reasons

I reckon the IRL reasons would be budgetary. I’m fine with that, since I prefer the Disco uniforms personally. Depending on what happens at the end of the season, maybe the fourth season will see a uniform change.

I assume at some point the Disc crew will go into the current era uniforms. It's probably smart for the show not to go overboard with changes all at once but to shift gradually. I'm actually surprised how quickly they are upgrading the hero ship, though.

I am here for this. I am ready, yes.

I suspect this Starfleet hasn't been in the ship making business in awhile.

Most likely. I think not changing the uniforms and not changing the intro too much were their ways of letting the audience know, "This is still the same show! It's the third season of Discovery, not the first season of Discovery II."
