Spoilers Ah, the NEW uniforms...!

This is head canon, but she said, she* woke up in an escape pod wich got launched in open space.
She could have been in stasis in there for a few years before she* got picked up by an Earth ship? That would take care of the age problem.
Or the ship literally only made it to the asteroid belt in the sol system. Was that ship named Titanic btw?

*pronoun provisional
The escape pod must have been out there for quite a while flying back towards earth because Earth ships don't seem to be able to make it as far as Titan

Or at least they don’t routinely.
In this instance the pod could have transmitted a mayday on a specific Earth used frequency with an Earth transponder code.
That would have generated some attention and maybe even a rescue mission.
Adria got rescued by EDF and as an orphan had no other options, she* used the opportunity to join to find out what she needed to know as she said.
With her aptitude demonstrated she probably got fast tracked, and here we are.

TBH I find it pretty easy to work with her story in my head. Warp ships still exist so she could have been picked up easily. It's how a planet with those capabilities keeps contact with its shops but loses it with Titan that kills it for me.

I understood it as unwillingness more than in capability.
They didn’t make the impression that it would be difficult to talk once they got past their aggressions.

Yeah, it's plausible but it's just irritating when things clearly haven't been fully thought through and subsequently require unnecessary mental gymnastics to make them fit. Just too many silly little inconsistencies and wrinkles that really should be ironed-out before filming...

It really wouldn't have made a vast difference to the ongoing storyline if Adira had been, say, 16 when in a relationship, around the time of Grey's joining and subsequent untimely demise and was then said to be around 20 to 22 at the time the EDF boarded Discovery. That might have made a bit more sense in the context of the timing of Adm Tal's message too.

Was looking back at previous designs (albeit recent from out perspective) and perhaps there's a bit of design lineage here...

For what it's worth, some pure speculation on how the Admiral ranks might look in 3189 (if the designers have actually bothered to work out the full scheme). Maybe:

The placement of those pips on the 3189 Admiral looks painful/uncomfortable. I would not want to press pips onto my collar on that particular location of my neck.

Yes, whether it's a "true" double-breasted top or just a false design feature, it does have some similarities to the maroon jackets and the TNG-era dress uniforms.

There's a hint of something similar to jacket variant (presumably the more formal version) of the 3189 "current" uniforms. It would make sense if they were intended to be the successors to this pattern of uniform (whether directly or with other intermediate steps in between).

Agreed. I'd say that's Captain Kasha Tal.

Memory Alpha also indicates Kasha might be the first, but has no info in which of the unknown four is which.

But even if 5 out of 6 Tal hosts lived 100 years after joining, that would only put the first one 500 or so years earlier.

Odds are they just grabbed the "newest" uniform they could for the scene, because that's a long time for a uniform style to hang around.
