Well, with the extremely little character development she's gotten, I wouldn't hold my breath.
To each their own. Detmer is one of my favorites since Season 1.
She got a lot more in Season 3.
Maybe she considers it a memento, a reminder. Like how some people like their scars.
Oh man, I liked the general look of the uniforms in season 3, but I really wasn't digging the grey. These look so much better now with black pants and the shirts being so colorful. I do wish that Detmer was in red, too, but maybe they want command personnel to stand out, sort of like medical do with their white uniforms.

Yes and the white one was worn by the base medics.
Other than some PTSD which was quickly forgotten, what character development did she get?
I liked the grays from the season finale.
But I do like these better, at least in the quick glimpses we see here. My only complaint is that the dark blue conflates too easily with the black. A lighter shade would stand out better. But the red and the yellow look fantastic. Burnham wears that red well, and you know Saru will eventually as well.

I like the new colours, only real complaint is that the collars don’t look great.

My thoughts, in roughly the order they occurred to me as I watched the trailer:
- OK, didn’t see *that* coming! I figured they might make some changes but not this one...!
- That’s gonna confuse the casual viewers when it airs alongside Strange New Worlds, which will have the TOS colours of Command in gold and Operations/Services in red...!
- definitely a TNG-ish kinda vibe.
- I sorta like it but...
- still with the ****ing asymmetric hem. FFS...!
- the colour intensities are poorly balanced: the blue is way too dark (to little contrast with the black) and the yellow is way too pale (far too light compared to the other colors). The medical white is too stark against the black, they should probably have stuck with the 32nd Century Starfleet grey (or something similar) for the jacket stripe and the trousers.
- In fact, it would have been a nice nod to the previous links between Medical and Sciences to use the blue for the jacket stripe on the Medical whites.
- Oh boy, figure-hugging leggings...! Looks like the early TNG dress uniforms (!)
- Tilly is still in blue.
- Will they also change all the other Starfleet uniforms to match, or is Discovery now “the special one” with different uniforms...?
- not uniforms exactly, but is the character in the blue suit with the white shirt going to be the Federation President? Sure looks like some sort of UFP logo pin on her left lapel.
- that looks like Saru’s hand in the red sleeve right at the end; presumably greeting Burnham? Given last season, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he’s just agreed to become her first officer, although I thank that would be doing the character a big disservice.

In fact, that is Saru in the background in this shot -- and it very much looks like he's still wearing the black shoulder straps of a Captain.
It wouldn't be the first time in Trek we've seen a second Captain as First Officer...
It also looks like he's wearing some sort of badge on the black stripe of his jacket. Something Kelpien...? Probably this:

Vance is still wearing his old uniform in this shot -- although it looks like there's a security guy in black in the background and Burnham is wearing a different outfit so just maybe it precedes any changes (...?).
If that is the Fed president, it looks like she's got some Cardassian heritage.
That just looks like she's wearing one of the old TNG-era UFP seal pins from the mid-90s...!!

Gersha Phillips in the previous panel telegraphed the change saying that they didn't realize just how much the gray blended with the bridge set......
I'm sure they are concerned........
Were Owo and Detmer always the same colour ?
Yes, in the TOS era colors they were supposed to have the same color uniforms. But they probably should have different colors if they now follow the TNG coloring.
I don't mind really I mean there is nothing to say that the navigator needs to be command colour.
Early TNG occasionally had two redshirts at Nav & Helm (Geordi & Worf?). Then later Data at Helm. So there's no real template saying both those positions need to be the same department.
