Agonybooth takes on "The Fight"

After a long wait, agonybooth.com has started up their "Worst of Trek" section again where they look at various bad Star Trek episodes really in-depth.

The first Voyager ep they recapped was "Threshold", and according to that website, the second worst Voyager ep is... "The Fight".

What say you? Was this a fair choice or is there a more deserving ep? I have to say I thought this was a good choice, because now at least I can understand what the hell is going on in the episode.

I loved that caption with Janeway throwing up her arms and saying "Another spatial anomaly? Oy vey!" And I didn't enjoy the episode either. Felt it was an inferior version of TNG's "Night Terrors"

Can't say I disagree. This episode and Unforgettable are the only two episodes that I found myself fast forwarding through as I rewatched Voyager for the first time. I think they are the only episodes in all of Trek that I would never watch again. Even Threshold has some rewatch value for the first half, and the amusement factor. But The Fight and Unforgettable...blech.

Yes TNG was always better with "the anomaly/weird/mystery/DNA altering/holodeck" episodes--Clues, Night Terrors, Parallels, Remember Me, Future Imperfect, Cause and Effect, Disaster, Yesterday's Enterprise, Identity Crisis, Genesis, Elementary Dear Data, Ship in a Bottle, The Next Phase, All Good Things.

And I was really hoping VOY would have continued that strong track record but instead we get The Fight, Non Sequitir, Fair Haven, Coda, Favorite Son etc.

Hmmm, 'The Fight' was pretty bad, but I feel 'Favorite Son' and 'Spirit Folk' were worse. Funny review though.

You know..I actually agree with this ep being the worst??? I didn't believe a lot of the posters in the beginning when they just trashed this ep. Well, I watched the episode again a few days ago and realized they were right about it being bad. The acting wasn't that great.

Things I didn't like: chaotic space:wtf:????
Chakotay having delusions and thinking he was gonna end up like his grandfather..a crazy old man. SAY WHAT??
The acting...PLEASE! Can we say, OVERACTING!!!!!

Things I did like: the boxing-thought it was an interesting and different aspect for Trek. They never did boxing before and I thought it was good they tried that for a different approach to Trek. Obviously, the ep itself wasn't all that great.

While this one isn't my favorite by a longshot I would still say "Unforgettable", "Human Error" and "Endgame" are worse.

"The Fight" is far from the worst or even second worst hour of Voyager. This said, it's ideal agonybooth material: It's a pretty crazy half-baked premise you could ridicule its absurdities in your sleep. The genuine worst episodes of Voyager are those ones which are so suffocatingly bland and boring you doze off. "The Fight" isn't guilty of that, but those eps wouldn't be as good targets for this kind of review. So I think it was a smart choice.

This said, "Twisted" was both worse and just as equally half-baked screwy, so it would have been my pick. I liked the review, but I have to admit I preferred Albert Walker's earlier pokes at the Trek franchise (including "Threshold"). The completion of this review appearently frees him up to assault Enterprise, so I've crossed my fingers and hope he's selected a really good piece of trash like "A Night in Sickbay" to slaughter. :)
