Agents of SHIELD: Season 3 - Discussion (SPOILERS LIKELY)

I've been trying to decide from his first appearance whether it's standard telekinesis or just metal. (Ferro- or otherwise.)

Me too. I fell on the side of Super-Magnetism last night because all of the objects that he's used his power on have been conspicuously metallic.

Giyera and Lincoln need to find themselves a telepath and form their own team.

Interesting that Malick characterised Pierce as "bloodthirsty". I mean he's not wrong--the man straight-up murdered his housekeeper like it was a minor inconvenience--but the charming and outwardly rational way Redford played him makes you forget he was probably a psychopath.
Not to mention a little thing called Project: Insight.

Is Giyera serving Mallick on of his own free will, or is he brainwashed like Whitehall brainwashed people to do hydra's bidding?

Brainwashing seems to have been Whitehall's particular thing. Malick's band seem to be true believers, cultists of this ancient Inhuman.

(And screencapped.net did confirm one more thing: Giyera is not a SHIELD agent. He's HYDRA Internal Security.)

Why would he be a SHIELD agent? We first saw him working for Malick. And he was given powers by the experiments Malick was secretly conducting in the ATCU. That organization, not SHIELD, is the current Hydra front.
When his casting was announced it was probably an intentional misdirect as the magazines or websites said he was going to play the head of SHIELD Security which brought on a rash of "SHIELD what?" questions

Leo knows her voice.

He'd recognize a pattern.

A bag of oranges thrashing against her ribs and limbs.

She'd be purple for a couple weeks, but practically undamaged.

Or maybe he used electrodes, or whatever that pain inducing serum Jack Bauer loved to stick in peoples' necks.
Unless it was something much worse like making her watch an episode of 'Galactica 1980', edited to a disco remix of a Bieber song or something. I don't know. Too evil? ;)

IIRC, they'd do the same thing on La Femme Nikita - an enemy agent would be seen strapped into their patented torture chair after an hours-long session with torturers who had an elaborate set of sharp instruments, and all he has is a single cut on each cheek.

Also, does anyone get the feeling with Lincoln and Joey being sent out with no training and Lincoln being a main character give anyone else the feeling Joey is not long for this world?

I think Joey is pretty safe. With the rate the MCU has been killing off homosexual characters and Maurissa has publicy apologised for that, and then the Jessica Jones show goes and kills a bunch more... :wtf:

Did it really?
The only ones I can think of who died were Wendy and the guy with his arms cut off in the final episode (that seemed to be a gay male couple whose apartment Kilgrave co-opted). Jeri Hogarth and her mistress Pam both survived, though Pam is under arrest. And the other man from the apartment is also still alive, and is the one Jessica told Hogarth to defend pro bono. So of the five (evidently) gay characters I can think of, three are still alive, though only one is out of jail.

I seem to be saying this on a weekly basis: Kill off Ward. Now. He is irredeemable. And he's overstayed his welcome. Since it's really been a pretty major plot point of the season with both Hunter and Coulson wanting the f*cker dead, I would be more than disappointed if they didn't do that by the season finale (if not next week's midseason finale).

Great episode though. Shocking turn of events events with Roz. I was expecting her to die soon, but like many, not three minutes into this episode. I should have gathered with how normal of a scene they were having.

I like that they're going back to Simmons' planet and I wonder how they're going to play this out. What's going to happen with Will? Is he the first inhuman? Or just a pawn? OR are we going to find Simmons still on the planet? And alone. Wouldn't that be something?

Did I miss something? (I watched at 5am this morning.) Was Mack made director in Coulson's absence? Also, does anyone get the feeling with Lincoln and Joey being sent out with no training and Lincoln being a main character give anyone else the feeling Joey is not long for this world?

Daisy, Lincoln and Joey vs one hydra metal-manipulating henchman. The odds should be on shield's side.

Director Coulson named Mack the Acting Director fearing Agent May was too personally involved as he was, where Ward is concerned
Since Agent Banks did not try to seek cover or anything an experienced trooper would do when faced with danger. He had been hunting Inhumans and it is a couple of years past the Battle of New York so shocked into inaction shouldn't be happening. I am thinking he was facing a telekinetic and not Magneto Jr.

Maybe the guy once had a nasty accident and now has a lot of metal in his skeleton? ;)

I think it was a big mistake to kill Rosalind. I was hoping she'd eventually be promoted to headliner. There were so many possibilities. :(

Still, this was a hell of an episode. It was great to see Mack in charge and it's nice to know he comes after May in the pecking order-- I've been thinking that he hasn't had enough to do this year-- I don't think he's had one conversation with his pal Fitz-- and it was a great moment when he repeated to the team exactly what Coulson said to him. Poor Coulson. I don't think we really needed to see him driven to extremes, but Clark Gregg really got to show his stuff. And now Fitz and a bunch of HYDRA goons are on Planet Hell-- and so is Coulson. I'm not quite sure how that happened, since the portal seemed to close before he got through the conveniently open roof. I wonder if Hunter made it, too.

I just really, really hope we are finally going to see the end of Ward.

Not seen the latest episode, but Mack Acting Director, that's some sign as to how much Coulson rates him, even considering Mack will often question his actions too. Mack along with Fitz are my 2 favourite characters in SHIELD.

Apparently you didn't see the epilogue to the episode that answer your questions

I don't know if it would be spoilers or some TV stations just simply cut them off so i'll put it in spoilers just to make sure:

Coulson makes the jump into the portal moments before Hydra closes it but Hunter remains on the Quinjet. We see the Hydra team with Fitz and Ward advance through a sandstorm and the next scene seen sees Coulson also arrive though he tumbles down the hill and hits his head against a rock knocking him unconscious.

As to the episode.. damn!:eek:

I always state that Flash is my currently favorite comicbook show (not counting Netflix Marvel shows) but this one was this weeks absolute best by quite a margin even measured against the Flash/Arrow crossover.

Coulson on the warpath! I hope this is really it and he gets Ward this time.. no more dialogue, no more special prisons and especially no more Ward lurking around the edges of Shield as their personal boogeyman.

So Coulson goes thru the portal diving at terminal velocity (or close to), which means he then zips UP through the other side. I wonder how high he went before he fell down again and went boom. Apparently not high enough to pop his chute.

I'm thinking that Mack asking those questions regularly might be part of why Coulson decided on appointing him.

After watching I had to back it up to see Coulson shoot through just before the black goo stargate closed- I love the fact Hydra did not even notice him do it.

I do hope he kills Ward finally- I love a good protagonist but I am weary of this guy.
