So the Koenigs must be LMDs after all. I wonder if there's a story connected to the original Koenig. Either he was another one of Fury's favorites, or else he invented the LMD-- the MCU's equivalent of Dr Soong.

Whatever they are they're certainly not mechanical like the comic book LMDs. Something like replicants maybe? Genetically engineered life forms grown full size in a tank? Clones? Maybe he's an actual Shield agent who was exposed to some alien tech that made a whole bunch of duplicates, like the twinned Crichtons in Farscape?

He could be taller, but if he is a decoy, that width has to be excellent bullet bait.
Having a strong magneto in there, could also generate fields that might be able to attract bullets... Although, if that were so and S.H.I.E.L.D. did share a cinematic universe with the X-Men, then the L.M.D's would be Magneto's bitch.

That's what a Life Model Decoy does... They pretend to be people so that snipers waste their time shooting at them instead of real people.

Just to clarify, I'm not asking about Koenig, I'm asking about LMDs. Guy Gardiner suggested that they are indistinguishable and I wanted to clarify.
The goal is to figure out whether Koenig is a LMD based on how LMDs function. It begs the question to say that LMDs appear to be internally like living people because Koenig appears to be internally like a living person.

More to the point isn't the purpose of LMDs to looks like specific people? Like important high value targets/assassin bait type people? If there is or ever was a "real" Koenig, it appears nobody knows who he is and he's/they're not a terribly effective decoy hiding away in ultra-top secret bunkers...kind of the total opposite of an LMD when you think about it, no?

They seem to be used like you'd use a robot, in places they don't want to use human agents, although they apparently don't trust them/don't have enough/the expense is too great to make LMDs the majority of SHIELD agents. LMDs have been known to go rogue too, so at least some are sentient, although I'd assume that's not common. Honestly, seeing a LMD actually used as a decoy, unless they're a Nick Fury LMD, is probably the least common use for them I've seen in comics.

There's a difference between having no near future plans for a character and having no plans for a character. If there are distant plans for a character, they still aren't going to want those plans thrown out of whack by having the character appear much earlier in a TV Show. So I'm doubtful they would want Carol Danvers on the show unless it's part of their future plans for the character. After all, once you use a character in one way, you're kind of stuck with that in other ways.
