Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release...

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

Seeing as Marvel doesn't have any very near-future plans for a Ms. Marvel movie, I hope that in the very near-future Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can be used to debut her and many more S.H.I.E.L.D./supernatural defense characters besides Mockingbird. I personally hope for Abigail Brand, Daisy Johnson, Clay Quartermain, Jimmy Woo, and Wendell Vaughn.

If they were going to debut Carol Danvers on a TV show, it would likely be the Jessica Jones show as the two of them are close friends in the comics.

I don't know about that. They have the whole Kree thing going for them in Agents of SHIELD.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

I hope the blue-skinned corpse wasn't Mar-Vell. It would be a letdown to have him already dead.

I hope it *is*. That character was always something of a non-entity who's existence is just a way for marvel to hold onto the "Captain Marvel" trademark and stick it to DC.

Ms. Marvel was always an infinity more interesting character and Mar-Vell's only function is to give her her powers. I'd say he's the Abin Sur or the Joe Chill of the Marvel universe, but that would be doing those characters a great disservice.

I'm not convinced he's dead. He has healing abilities after all. He also has phasing abilities so he can get out from under that ton of concrete. I could see him as angry and bent on revenge.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

The corpse at the "Guest House" was likely some other poor soul from Hala or Kree-Lar who ended up dead on Earth way back when.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

^That's my take on it as well.

Did you ever read the Jim Starlin run? I think you would change your opinion.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

Also, whose to say that a movie version of Mar-Vell has to be a non-entity? I'm sure he'd be a bit different than the comics. I've never read much of the comic version of Mar-Vell, but the little I have wasn't particularly exciting (Genis-Vell in Peter David's run is the best Marvel comics version of Captain Marvel). Still, its a different format, so I'd be interested to see Mar-Vell in live action, althopugh not as the body. Mar-Vell is a pink skinned kree anyway, and I think having that body regenerate stretches the kree healing thing a bit far. He's pretty chewed up, and they need to put limits on kree stuff curing people.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

The point isn't whether or not they can take something that originated as a cynical legal manoeuvre and make a workable character out of him, it's that the mere existence of a male version of "Captain Marvel" in any form inherently devalues Danvers by making here merely a female derivative.

Short version: I think the Ms. Marvel character would be *better* served as a solo hero if Mar-Vell is out of the picture than if he were anything more than a McGuffin.

I don't think he should be written out entirely, but I like him as a McGuffin. It's almost a passing of the torch.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

I like Ms. Marvel a lot, but she can exist along with Mar-Vell. I honestly don't like her as Captain Marvel anyway (and not just because her comic is very average right now). There is no reason to eliminate the reason she's even around. They already can't use her history with Rogue, which ended up being a big part of the character, and you know they won't use her being an alcoholic, so without Mar-Vell there is a whole lot of Ms. Marvel that won't be part of a live action version. I hope that, with the Kree connection, we get both Mar-Vell and Carol Danvers eventually.

Just to clarify, I'm not asking about Koenig, I'm asking about LMDs.

Guy Gardiner suggested that they are indistinguishable and I wanted to clarify.

The goal is to figure out whether Koenig is a LMD based on how LMDs function. It begs the question to say that LMDs appear to be internally like living people because Koenig appears to be internally like a living person.

It is designed to function as an exact body double for VIPs. Their design is such that they mimic the subject's outer appearance (i.e., fingerprints, hair, all details of the skin), speech patterns, scent, iris and retina patterns, body language, thought patterns (to fool telepaths), and any other biological indicators. Aside from any invasive procedure or strong EMP, they are indistinguishable from the original.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Model_Decoy
That says their facade wouldn't stand up to an invasive procedure, but that's the comic version of the LMD rather than the MCU version.

We know the MCU has LMDs, since Tony Stark tried to pretend that he was an LMD of himself while answering his phone in The Avengers.

I don't really see why there's much doubt that the various Koenigs are LMDs at this point, since there are at least three confirmed so far (Eric, Billy, and now Sam in the teaser video) and they just hang out by themselves watching over isolated SHIELD facilities and all behave the same way. I suppose they could be triplets who handle isolation well and all act the same, but LMD seems more likely in that universe.

If they're able to stand up to an autopsy, maybe the MCU version is more like a clone body with an artificial or cybernetically augmented brain.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

Not only does Koenig appear to be a living person but he later appears to be a dead person too, and stays dead when he is "killed" by human standards.

Could the appearance of death be an LMD feature?

That way any killer/assassin hunting the decoy by accident, feels like it's mission accomplished and goes home after making a killshot.

We didn't know they had LMDs as a real thing for MCU purposes based on Tony's throwaway joke. Tony thought he was making a throwaway joke.

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

^I'm hoping Agent Carter has an episode where some of Shield's intel gets leaked and everyone passes it off for myths, including the LMDs.

By the way, Marvel is going to be adding versions of May, Fitz, Simmons, and Skye to the main Marvel (616) Universe in a S.H.I.E.L.D. series to be written by Mark Waid:

http://comicsalliance.com/marvel-ma...ops-layman-death-of-wolverine-next-big-thing/

Looks like it's basically a comics-universe version of the show's premise -- Coulson leading a small team -- but with the difference that it has full access to all of Marvel's characters and will have the team partnering with major superheroes in every storyline. So it'll be doing the kind of stories the show can't do. (And the cover -- poster? -- makes a point of featuring Spider-Man, Storm, and the Thing, characters that other studios have the screen licenses to.)

I know there's a long tradition of adding characters from mass-media adaptations to the original comics, going clear back to Perry White and Jimmy Olsen, but it's surprising to get all four of these characters added to the universe within a year of their introduction. (Coulson was added to the 616 universe a couple of years ago along with a black "Nick Fury Jr.") It seems to me that it usually takes more time for a character created for TV (or radio) to show up in the comics. It took Harley Quinn seven years to make the transition. Although, then again, both Renee Montoya and Young Justice's original Aqualad were picked up by the comics so quickly that they debuted on the page before they appeared in their respective shows. And Perry White took less than a year to show up in comics, Jimmy Olsen about a year and a half. And then there's Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, who was created for the comics at the request of the TV show producers so they could then introduce her to the show. So it's been known to happen quickly, but I'm not sure it's ever happened so quickly with four characters at once.

Although it looks like these characters could be a little different from their counterparts -- Fitz & Simmons are shown charging forward with big guns, Simmons is in a combat jumpsuit, and May doesn't look very stoic. On the other hand, Fitz actually gets a helper monkey!

Re: Agents of SHIELD season 2 News, Rumors, Pics, etc. until release..

Nope. Simmons is in between Coulson and May holding a gadget.
