Personally I thought the CGI Howard the Duck at the end of Guardians looked awful -- much more fake than the animatronic one from the old movie. I have no interest in seeing more of that version of the character.

Seriously though I think it looked appropriately bad. As they just did a straight-up translation of the cartooney way he looks in the comics. I imagine that's part of the joke.

So I just finished an all night binge on the last half of season one. I had basically stopped watching after the holiday hiatus. My DVR had kept recording, but they were just taking up space. And thought I'd give it one more chance before I gave up on it for good. What a difference. The second half was just so much better than the first.
I think the biggest difference was the pacing was so much better and the plotting more focused. I did a lot of ceiling-staring early in the season and got board a lot. The stories were also a lot more engaging.
And I found Fitz-Simmons a lot less annoying.
Also, and maybe this is just me, but for some reason I thought Whedon's Godhand was a bit more active even if he wasn't directly involved most of the time. It's just that the act break-ups and how they were plotted in terms of twists and suspense seemed to follow closer to his template than they did early in the show. And like (since it's still fresh in my mind) that gag at the end where Coulson zaps Cyber-Garrett into a million bits seems like someone pulled it right out of Whedon's bag of magic tricks.
I'm also glad I had waited until after seeing Cap2 (for obvious reasons) and Guardians, if only because even a month ago I had no idea what the heck a Kree was.
Suffice it to say though, now I'm actually really excited for season 2 to start. Heck, after watching that little promo Fox aired on Gotham also (which looks like it might be better than I expected), I'm excited all around. It's going to be a really fun fall for genre fans.
The only problem is I didn't get any sleep, and Fridays are always busy for me.

Yeah, this is a great time to be a comic book fan. By the time the end of next year starts we'll have the MCU, Gotham, the Arrowverse, Constantine, I, Zombie, Preacher, and the DCU films all going on. I feel like I'm forgetting something...

No doubt the same model as paying for cable or a Netflix subscription. Once you pay for the overall service, you can watch anything it offers without additional cost.
