I'm four episodes into the season one Blu-Rays and every time there is a HYDRA clue, and there are plenty...

Coulson and Amador-- "Who were they?"
"Don't know. Even to this day. But they were organized."

Ward and Fitz-- "Who has tech like this?"

...or whenever Ward does something heroic, I feel compelled to raise my arm in salute and exclaim "Hail HYDRA!"

I also loved the irony of Ward completing Amador's mission for her, given that they were actually working for the same people.

I wonder. Were the Centipede, Deathlok, and eye implant programs planned from the start to be merged to produce ultimate Deathloks? Or did Mike Peterson just suffer from all of those because HYDRA ran into conveniences?

I wonder if Baron Strucker's cell has access to those programs or if he's satisfied with running the research on Loki's scepter.

Except that in CA:TWS, Rumlow and his HYDRA cohorts were called STRIKE units as well.

And a S.H.I.E.L.D. tablet that Coulson is viewing in The Avengers says that Romanoff and Barton worked together as part of S.T.R.I.K.E. Team Delta.

Yeah. I don't know what it is about it, but it makes me think we'll see the two of them talking in the lab just like old times, only to find later that he's really elsewhere (still in the hospital? a prisoner of Hydra? both?) and Jemma is just hallucinating him being there...

All the article with the picture said was that he was an agent of S.T.R.I.K.E., the UK equivalent to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Everything I've seen (including statements from the writers) says that he's STRIKE in the comics but just a mercenary on the show because STRIKE has already been used.

Since the MCU version of SHIELD has been portrayed as an international organization, born out of the WWII Allied Forces rather than a strictly American institution, the idea of a British equivalent would be entirely redundant.
It seems they've just used the name STRIKE for SHIELD's elite tactical units.

Of course that doesn't mean they can't use it again down the line. Perhaps in the wake of SHIELD's collapse the various member nations forming their own sovereign answers to SHIELD/HYDRA, so we may see a UK based STRIKE somewhere down the line. Indeed, they may also use that approach to introduce a version of SWORD as the USA's post-HYDRA response.

Sure, but this particular character isn't part of STRIKE in the show, which is the relevant point.

Blake is probably still in a coma.

Who knows what happened to Akela. Hopefully she's still around, although there's no guarantee she wasn't killed at a SHIELD facility that Hydra decided to take over.

I wonder if they can even use SWORD. Didn't that organization debut in Astonishing X-Men? It's things like that that make me wish I could look at all the various legal documents and see exactly what Marvel has control over and what it doesn't.

^AoS has tons of clues they retouch up on later, sometimes across multiple episodes. I doubt it's just a art department nod.

Oops. I forgot about the H.A.M.M.E.R. reference. And A.R.M.O.R.

"End of the Beginning" mentioned Department H. I don't get how that one is possible considering that Alpha Flight in the comics is part of Wolverine's background.

I think that it's possible to name-drop someone or something that you don't have a license to actually portray. For instance, when Malibu Comics had the license to Deep Space Nine, they made references to things from TOS and TNG even though DC had the comics license to those.

I saw that clip the other day, it was pretty good. I can't wait for the season to start. I wonder how many Koenigs we'll end up with by the time we are done dealing with them?

CBR has a new interview with J. August Richards, the actor who plays Mike Peterson/Deathlok.
Sounds like he hasn't been back yet. I hope he does pop back up eventually.
