"AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." - Raina's Transformation

Which is a shame, because I thought that was a fantastic idea. It made perfect sense and it raised numerous storytelling possibilities. I think it was Byrne who did that, but it might have been Shooter.

Pretty sure it was Byrne.

They have other ones now, including an Inhuman turning into a door and one turning into a ship's engine.

^^ Okay, that's kind of extreme. Those aren't biological changes. And, yes, I know super-powers are pretty magical, but to me that's taking it too far.

Pretty sure it was Byrne.
It was definitely during the time that Byrne was doing FF, and I think it was in an annual or something, but something is tickling at the back of my mind that Shooter was involved.

I remember the plot: Crystal and Quicksilver's baby had turned out to be (gasp!) an ordinary human. Pietro was so horrified by this ("My daughter . . . a human?") that he was determined to expose the infant to the Terrigen Mist post haste, regardless of the risk.

Then Lockjaw speaks up (for the first and only time) to say something like "Look what happened to me."

Which gives Pietro pause . . . ..

And the ancient joke at the end when Ben says, "Why haven't you ever spoken before?"

"I never had anything to say." :rommie:

Here it is-- not an annual, but just a random issue of The Thing. Byrne and Shooter have a co-writing credit. What I think I remember, vaguely, is that there was a footnote giving Shooter credit for the idea-- or something. Maybe somebody has access to the issue on Comicology or something. My old books are all packed away.

I got the impression Lockjaw spoke to the Thing. Maybe it was both. Here's the page from the retcon:

I guess Peter David felt strongly about this because he retconned it in his second issue with X-Factor and for pretty much no other purpose than to retcon it.

I'm pretty sure it was both. He spoke to Pietro to discourage him from using the Mist on the kid, and then to Ben when he made the remark about never having anything to say.
