"Agent Carter" season one discussion and spoilers

4.5 stars out of 5
Just jumping in now that it's over.
A solid season ender(I do hope for a S2) even if it was always planned as a one season thing.

The stand out moments for me:
The Peggy/Dottie fight, if briefer than I'd have preferred.
Sousa w/the ear plugs
Jarvis getting into the action
Zola in the cell!!!

The only strong negative I have is the rehash of Peggy at a transmitter microphone once again talking a guy in a plane out of a dangerous situation. He was even hallucinating that he was over barren tundra.

I do hope for a second season.

The ratings may not be fantastic, but the reception has seemed to be pretty good from folks who watched. There has not been a big dropoff over the last few episodes.

And consider that we really don't need it to be renewed for a full 22 episode season. The ratings just need to be good enough to justify bringing it back as an 8-episode filler show. And I think the ratings probably are good enough to justify another 8 episodes.

One of the Mandarin's rings is a mento-intensifier ring.

Could also be the Mind Stone, if they want to get TV in on the Infinity Stone Quest.

I liked Agent Carter; in fact, I'm kinda bummed we have to go back to Agents of Shield. Now even MORE time will be spent on Skye, Daisy, Quake whoever, and I just don't like that actress at all. Bleh.

I much more enjoyed the world of Agent Carter; it was fun, and far more interesting, to me anyway.

This show in small runs of 8-13 episodes would be perfect for Netflix and they already have a working partnership with Disney/Marvel. I doubt we will see a 2nd season unless Disney does this as the ratings were very weak by the end.

I don't dislike snowflake as much as you, but I'm feeling kind of the same way. I liked Agent Carter so much I'm not looking forward to Shield as much as when it ended in December.

When I heard Arnim Zola's voice at the end, that was a real kick in the gut. But, this whole episode was really good.

If I had to complain, except that complaining about it being over, is that the distraction fake assassination attempt looked just a little to obviously like a distraction to me. I think it's a fair thing that it fooled Jack and Marge because when someone's shooting at you, you don't really stand there and say, oh the trajectory is off, but I think they might have seen the holes in the windows were really over Howard's head quite a bit.

I also found I was laughing quite a bit, Dominic Cooper was really delivering those lines. If RJD ever gets too expensive, they can put him in, he looked so much like a Tony Stark last night. I know that would never happen, but I think he could pull it off.

"Let's stick the new mad scientist in a cell with our other mad scientist. What could go wrong?"

Have the Overnight Fast Neilson Numbers come in yet? I've not googled up any with my attempts.

Despite consecutive episodes losing viewers I'm hoping for some, at best, marginal uptick since it was the finale.

Unlike most shows, ratings don't matter as much for this or Agents of SHIELD - they're both extended commercials for the Marvel movies and a way to keep the brand in the public eye during the breaks between movies.

Yes, and doesn't Disney own both Marvel and ABC? It doesn't ensure profiablity, but it's owned under one company, one that is making billions off those movies.

It's still a business. Agents of SHIELD's numbers, particularly in the key demos, are actually pretty good. People who think it's justified as a commercial for the movies aren't correct. If that's all it were, it wouldn't still be around.

^This. And people put waaaaay too much stock into over-night and Neilson numbers, which really don't mean much in 2015. After taking into acount Hulu, DVRs and other streaming sources, both AoS and AC are doing alright. Well enough, at least, to justify continuing on. I, myself, only have watched AC and AoS (or any other current show, for that matter) on Hulu.

ABC will ax the show. the critical reception have been negative and the ratings not so good.

^I haven't heard any negative critical reception toward Agent Carter. I tend to frequent genre-oriented sites rather than mainstream, but I've seen nothing but raves for the show.

^^^^
It's not a matter of the show being axed. It was always from day one billed an 8 part mini-series event.

I know DVR and L+3, L+7 numbers have significance in today's market place. I only was looking for the Fast Overnights cause it's the first indicator. Gotta start somewhere type thing. Then later look at the adjustments for DVR viewings.

This pretty much sums up my feelings as well. :sigh:

"Let's stick the new mad scientist in a cell with our other mad scientist. What could go wrong?"
That very thought killed any enthusiasm about that scene. Meh.

The ratings are fairly low (once again, demo numbers are better and I suspect comparison to a full-length show isn't appropriate), but what negative critical reception? I've heard only praise.

AV Club's reviews of Agent Carter are better overall than their reviews of House of Cards.

Maybe it shows that Zola has already cultivated allies within the government and arranged for Fennhoff to be placed in his cell. After all, given his future involvement with Operation Paperclip, we know his scientific knowledge gives him leverage, so maybe he's negotiated for favors in exchange for his cooperation.
