This is just out of curiosity.

In what age bracket are you and how did you come to be a TOS fan?

Did you become a fan of TOS first from watching it either back in the day or simply before you watched any of the spinoffs? Or maybe you became a fan after seeing the '80s films first? Or perhaps you started with one of the spinoff series (TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) and then were curious about how Star Trek got going, checked out TOS and then became a fan? Or maybe you even came to TOS after first being exposed to the reboots? Were a fan of SF before or after you started watching Trek?

My own story is familiar enough. I'm presently 56 and started watching Star Trek in 1970 and have been a fan ever since. I've seen every version of spinoff and film and while there was some things I liked I still much prefer TOS. I was already interested in science fiction before TOS so it basically bolstered my prior interest which continues to the present.

Anyone else's story?

I´m currently 36. I started to watch TOS and TNG when I was 15 in parallel with collecting novels. Most fascinating and most discussed character was Mr. Spock.
I consider myself conservative as I don´t like the Abramsverse/new timeline.
ENT was the show I never warmed to, either. My favorite shows are TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY. I follow up on them via reading the novels.

Currently 41 and my first experience with Trek was a youngster watching reruns in the late 70s/early 80s though certain episodes were skipped by the Beeb.

I was a fan of science-fiction before I saw Trek (from my father).

Started with TOS in 1966 when I was 15. I just don't like remembering the actual number of years.

I am 57 and my Mom, who instilled a love of reading in me, and as a Teacher, taught me how to read early, knew of my love of Science Fiction. One night, she told me we were going to watch a science fiction Space show, and on that first night, we did. That was all it took. That 9 year-old is still with me, and always will be!

27, and I started watching Star Trek before I can even remember. It was paired in syndication with Star Trek: The Next Generation, which started in first run syndication shortly before I was born.

43, and have been watching for as long as my memory exists.

Huge fan of TOS, like the Abrams films and selectively like parts of the various spinoffs. But none of it has replicated the magic of those original 79 episodes. Though I'm not sure it's fair to hold the rest to the standards formed in childhood.

I started watching Trek as a child back in 1970 I believe! First one I saw was Court Martial which didn't do a lot for me back then but it did keep me watching on Wednesdays or Mondays on BBC1 at 710pm! Some of the episodes were pretty scary and did leave me thinking about it long after the show had finished! The original I don't think can be beaten. TNG, DS9 and VOY are good but pale compared to TOS and ENT I think was a mistake from start to finish! You can't contradict Kirk and Spock, it's just not done!

68 for a few more weeks. Caught the Sept. 8, 1966 launch of the show but only watched sporadically as I was ass-deep in engineering school and nearly full time work. Never actually watched the whole TOS run until early last year thanks to Netflix. TOS is pretty far down the list of favorite series with TNG at the top. (I know it is heresy, but Babylon 5 is my absolute favorite. Please don't hate me.)

27?

I'm surprised, Harvey, because I had the impression you were older by at least a decade if not twenty years.

Interesting.

Dude, your mom sounds genuinely amazing. Props to her for getting you into Trek!

54.

I watched TAS on NBC in the early '70s and wondered what all the fuss was about (I think I had read about Star Trek in "Junior Scholastic".) When the Huntsville (Alabama) NBC station started airing reruns of TOS around 1975, I quickly became a rabid fan.

Wait, actual age or mental age?

(30 and 17)

I grew up watching TNG on TV as well as every following series. My father was a Treky so there wasn't a time that Star Trek wasn't nearby.

I'm 30. I became a TOS fan thanks to my dad, he was a fan so he encouraged me watching the reruns of the original show and the movies when I was little in the late 80s and early 90s.

What can I say, except that I entered my curmudgeonly years early. :p

I can vouch for that. :)
