After 8 years I'm about to move! Full of wierd feelings, wish me luck!

So here I sit in my home of 8 years, about 90% all packed up, it's weird, to see this life I've build condensed into boxes and furniture. I'm very excited too! I grew up in this small southern Arizona town, I hate it, I also hate my house... but... it's been my home... Certainly mixed feelings... The wife and I found a nice place in the Phoenix area. It's very nice, the price it to die for and I have old friends there.

I lived there for a couple years in my early 20's so I know what I'm getting into as far as the heat goes, actually I liked it. I hate cold, snowy, rainy, drizzly, windy weather, (I also lived in Long Beach, Ca. for a year, hated it.)

Tomorrow morning we pick up the U-Haul truck and load her up, we head out Saturday morning... I have something of a bad back and it's just going to be my wife and I so I'm crossing my fingers I survive it... My mom lives here so I'll be further, that might be for the best...

It's just weird though... Hoping my sci-fi models survive the move unscathed... We have much more "stuff" than I thought. What's annoying is every time I go to get something I have to stop and remember it's packed away!

The computer will be one of the last things to be packed up tonight and we won't have a connection again until Monday so I can't let you know how it went till then. I know this is hardly a big deal for most but like I said, it's been a whole 8 years! I moved around bunches of times when I was in my teens and early 20's but now I have waaaay more stuff!

So my fellow Trek BBS folks, wish me luck and I'll see you all on the other side, hopefully with my back in one piece!

And Kim, like you, i dread the thought of packing when we move. So, slowly but surely i am parting with stuff so i don't' have to worry about that as much. It would be a nightmare to try to pack this house up. *shudders*

Thanks all! I currently live in a little town called Sierra Vista, unlovingly know as "Sorry Vista". Sure, the weather is nice, the view is in fact gorgeous but it is waaay too small and boring, pop 40,000. Loads of crystal meth heads, YUCK! I need a CITY! Ya know, where there are too many people to notice the meth heads!

I'm back!!! The move went well, very exhausting though. Just got my internet connection back like 10 minutes ago. Love the new place, love the area! Will report back in a while.

OK, one last post here to let ya all know how things went. In one day I drove 1200 miles, back and forth, by the last drive I was getting a wee bit punchy but made it ok. The hard part was lugging all of our stuff up a flight of stairs!

Thankfully my wife's sisters helped us, I don't know if we would have been able to do it ourselves, we were pretty tired at that point from packing everything up and loading the U-haul. My friends of course were no where to be seen, only one called to say he couldn't make it... oh well.

The new place it great, much bigger than we had and much nicer. I'll have to get used to luxury's as a dishwasher and a garbage disposal in the sink!

So the wife is back in Sierra Vista working her old job and staying with her aunt and applying for jobs while I'm here setting up the house and looking for jobs as well... it's gonna be a long lonely month!

Ok, well I guess that's it. Thanks to the whole whopping 3 or 4 people who wished me luck and offered support, I was hoping for a bit more community support but... guess that's how it goes...

I hate moving especially the packing up and deciding what to keep and what to throw.

I moved almost 2 years ago after living in the same place for almost 30 years. Even though I was moving into a larger house I threw out about half of what I owned. I am now living a much less cluttered life.

Do not assume that just because people haven't posted, they aren't paying attention - speaking for myself, I don't have that much time every day for posting replies.

When we first moved into it I was thrilled by all the wide open space! I told myself not to worry until the junk drawers got filled up. They're filled up now.

Thanks all, I'm applying to every job I think I can stand, it's such a large area I'm bound to snag something. Still setting up all the knick knacks, surround sounds systems, pictures, paintings, shelves other odds and ends. Just trying to find a place for everything. BTW - the weather, absolutely gorgeous! I love this place!
