Aerial View of Possible Star Trek Sets in L.A.

That really does look like a model of the Enterprise!

But why is it standing outside?

It is ready -- and waiting -- for it's close-up from Mr. DeMille?

re: the rusty area set... it is the set of "Tarsus IV Gladiator", emcee'd by that wacky Governor Kodos.

I can't wait for "Star Track". I wonder if they'll have a scene in the snack car. We might see the return of gach'hc or however the hell it's spelled.

Us : Star TREK, go back to school and learn ENGLISH, sheesh

The "Enterprise" looks way to big to be a SFX model. Plus, as the poster above stated, the "nacelles" aren't even parallel. I see nothing whatsoever to indicate that this is indeed the Star Trek set.

I saw some paparazzi shots from the set at work yesterday. I would imagine they will appear in the press today. It was the ice planet stuff as seen in the footage above and some blue screen stuff as well as seen set up with outline of a monster/ beast of some sort that looks like it would be used to drop in CGI over. There was also a close up of one of the cast. There was a pic of somone climbing up a mountain set. Like I say I am sure these pics will show up in the next day or so online or in the press.

This thread reminds me of the multitude of blobsquatch analysis I sometimes read for chuckles over at bigfootforums.

Speaking of blob anaylsis, that one picture doesn't look like a Loknar. It looks like a silhouette view of the Galileo with two nacelles attached perpendicular-wise to the shuttle's hull.

I don't see an Enterprise model there. And what would you need an FX model on location for anyway?

It's a time travel movie. Alternate time line crash scene?

What does an alternate time line have to do with it? A crash scene is a crash scene is a special effects shot. It would just be weird to shoot any of that on location.

NOT if you had the Enterprise crash landing on the San-Diego freeway in middle of Afternoon Drive in a huge, Back To The 21st Century Time Travel story in which Kirk, Spock and McCoy hunt for Khan and the Gay Eugenic Supermen.

Wait a minute? Wasn't that a Voyager script?

That's a piece of real-world equipment. You can see an operator cab, and a pair of lifting arms. Those arms both have cables on them... this is a two-element crane. There is, undoubtedly, a Teamster sitting inside the cab, but it's facing the other direction so we can't see in the windows.

These are used in industrial applications regularly (last time I saw one, it was being used to move a 50-ton injection molding machine into a factory).

So... unless they're taking the nuBSG approach (using contemporary, real-world hardware and pretending it's "current" in some entirely different setting), that's not part of the set... it's part of what was used to ASSEMBLE the set.

Make sense?

JFX Online has posted some new spy pics from the outdoor shoot including John Cho as Sulu in some sort of environmental suit and a better shot of the rusty looking set piece.

My first thought was that it was the back side of the Enterprise's deflector dish...the are between the secondary hull and the dish.

Possible the scene could take place during construction? Just a thought.

Don't think the big guy is a Klingon.
