Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS version]

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

I think the most vile "my way is the only true Trek way" posters will see what they want to see in the movie so they can tell us how right they still are and that everyone is simply stupid and doesn't understand Trek.

That's already happening over on The RPF; the thread there about the redesigned Enterprise has turned into a five-poster circle-jerk where the same few people (one an industry pro who has seen the film) are going over and over and over and over the same points about how Abrams is making a film for attention-deficit masses, and how he doesn't get Star trek, and all the ways "real" Trek is just to smart and deep and complex for the drooling folks who made this movie, yadda, yadda, yadda. It's getting pretty nausiating, actually.
I'm guessing that's probably in the Off-Topic forum? I'd better make a few more posts so I'll be able to see it.

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

hi all, I posted this in the Spoiler thread as well:

I just got back from the free screening in DC (at the AMC-Mazza Gallery).

suffice to say that I am completely overwhelmed and just... unbelievably happy! my day, no, my entire year has been MADE.

and I shall now say what I was hoping to say on the 8th of May:

STAR TREK LIVES, BABY, IT FUCKING LIVES!!! :)

Thanks pookha! I wish it was showing where i live, but it isn't. :(

Firstshowing.net had this to say on twitter. He should write the review tonight.

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

I saw a preview screening this evening, and it was wonderful! The movie combines the best parts of Trek and action movies. I'll have to see it again to be sure, but right now I would give it 5 stars, an honor only the second and eighth films have gotten from me before now.

^ Calling Voyager and Insurrection both underrated (meaning he thinks they're good) sort of killed the rest of the review for me.

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

I'm hoping all the canonistas, who have ben very quiet here, come back and apologise for their bile. That would be nice. And sweet.

Well, as long as they go several times to confirm their standpoint... I have no problem. Yes, canonistas, go 5 times! Make sure your opinion is fully researched! :D
