actually the computer was capable of sounding like the tng and did so with a personality in one episode.
i wonder if they originally intended for the computer to sound more like the familar tos but decided to let majel's voice sound more recognizable as a tribute.
That makes sense that the computer sounds more like it does in TNG than the robotic TOS voice. The Enterprise in the new timeline seems to be built nearly 20 years after the one in TOS. So it's a bit more up to date.

What I'm saying is that other aspects of the visual effects look like something that could be real if it was possible to happen. They have weight, depth and in the case of the ships, weathering. Having said that, when we see the ship in warp the actual warp effect seems like splashes of bright CGI colour.
