The tip of the iceberg in the grand scheme of everything wrong with NuTrek, IMO.

As far as I'm concerned, she got booted upstairs to a desk job where she couldn't do any direct harm out in the field.

What's worse is Pike in Trek XI, instantly promoted from Captain to Four-Star Admiral. Though, this of course is overshadowed by Kirk going from Cadet to Captain instantly.
There definitely wasn't enough time for anyone to earn four to six promotions....The exact value of "instantly" remains debatable, as there's no clear indication of passage of time in that part of the movie.

Pike has four pins on each shoulder of his Admiral's uniform in both movies, which would seem clear he is a Four-Star Admiral. Marcus, meanwhile had five pins on each shoulder, suggesting he's a Fleet Admiral. Also I thought he was a Rear Admiral...But I am kind of a fool regarding ranks so I might be dead wrong.
Voyager captivated the hearts and minds of people throughout the Federation, so it seems fitting that on this, the tenth anniversary of their return, we take a moment to recall the sacrifices made by the crew. Corruption charges were brought today against a Ferengi
JANEWAY: Computer, end display.
In the US Navy, Fleet Admiral is the highest rank, and is represent by five stars. Although the rank only existed in WWII.Although, doesn't a fleet captain sorta do the job you would expect of a fleet admiral? So I would expect a fleet admiral to be one of the lower ranks, as far as admirals go.
Pike I felt is a man dissatisfied with Starfleet's more militarized stance

They Kirked her.....I'd have to agree. Though what we saw in VOY never really gave the sense of a ship alone on a perilous journey (well I never found it to give that sort of impression a lot of the time), that was essentially what Voyager was, so any Captain who could get their crew through seven years of that would be deserving of a promotion--even with some of the questionable decisions made over that time.
The one thing that's always bothered me was that she jumped from Captain to Vice Admiral. Did Nemesis not have the budget to make a set of one-star admiral pips for Janeway? Even a Rear Admiral I could've lived with, but not such a huge jump in her rank.
Yeah, we need hard answers about why she was at particular locations at certain points in the journey home.
Born in 2305.
Assumed command of the Stargazer in 2333 at the age of 28. The Star Gazer was lost in 2355, Picard dicked around for almost 10 years before encountering Farpoint in 2364 at the age of 59.
In 2379, at the age of 74, some spunky kid gave him lip about marching orders to Romulus.
