Ideas for a sequel? I dunno. How about Q steps in and fixes the timeline.

Then do the f-n Romulan War movie that Enterprise the series should have been

I'd like to see Chris Pine in a pair of tight leather pants, LOL.

I want to see the only thing I am really missing in this one, a better bad guy who has charisma and an interesting profile.

Don't get me wrong. I know that this movie was about gathering the original crew. No time for a more interesting bad guy. But for the next movie they won't need to explain all those things and will be able to use a better bad guy.

No more reset buttons. I wouldn't have blown up Vulcan, but it doesn't really matter whether or not Kirk's mother was married or widowed when he enters the academy, Jim is ultimately still the same character, and killing his father gave Trek it's balls back, which were conspiciously missing since DS9 went off the air.

Poor Star Trek, when it actually decides to abandon the long overused magic rest button and take some chances (DS9's Dominion War and this movie), then its acused of going for the "cheap heat." Forget Kobayashi Maru, the true no-win scenario is keeping the fanbase happy.

As for a Romulan Wars movie, if Section 31 and the Tal Shiar figure into it in some capacity, then I'm there.

I don't want a "bad guy" per se. I'd rather see an encounter with an unknown species (no more canon to worry about--so it need not be any species already "known") that has tragic early consequences but is resolved by the crew working together. It need not lack for action (TMP is a film I like, but it could have done with a some more action) but it need not be a "good vs. evil" confrontation either. The "conflict" can be one borne of misunderstandings and overcoming those misunderstandings successfully (but not without cost) would be the story.

For those wanting more science: heat death. It is an old scientific theory where entropy builds up in the universe, making life impossible. The Doctor Who serial Logopolis covered it pretty effectively. Imagine a story where we find out that the universe is on the verge of experiencing heat death.

Does it take place ten billion years into the future?;)

I wouldn't mind seeing the themes and concepts of the Ultimate Computer revisted. A multitronic unit can perform all the duties of a man--but can it out-douche him?

Alternatively, a feature-length first contact with the First Federation (likely renamed Fesarians) would be good. Maybe see the inside of that 3000km-wide worldship.

But I think we all know what we're going to get: :klingon: I see little way around it. But who knows, hope springs eternal.

The Gorns. Star Trek needs an epic looking race that is both awesome looking and on equal grounds with the Federation in terms of technology. And I wouldn't make them enemies! Well, not at first if needed. Seeing an imagine of Kirk and the Gorn captain fighting side by side during a conflict would be cool.

I think Khan getting ahold of the Doomsday Machine would be a good story for a new movie, but that's just an idea.

Actually, the Doctor Who story didn't. I believe it took place in 1981 (in Earth years). Heat death had already been occuring, but these aliens had found a way to save the universe by using "vents" in the space time continnum to funnel the excess entropy out of our universe. The Master disrupted their calculations when he tried to conquer the aliens' home planet, chaos ensued.

One could easily have, say, Duras or Kor serving in a capacity similar to the Master in that story. And with their bigger budget, surely they could hire a scientific advisor that could ensure that the writers and the audience knew what heat death was.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

Well they could work with what they have wrought in changing the timeline. THe Klingons, an old Kirk nemesis, just had 47 ships wiped out by what they may have thought is some uber-Romulan weapon. How would that effect their foreign policy? Even more aggressive? More militant hard line voices are heeded and they start acting to preserve their race, etc.

Maybe they dont know it was Romulan. WHo knows, but I cant believe that they could see a whole fleet wiped out by a single ship and not get very agitated. Crank up the already big military budget.

Koloth and Kirk seemed to already know each other in TOS, so he could meet and battle Kirk in the next one.

An engineering set, perhaps a green screen if they couldn't afford a massive set. Something like the 1701-A set with some touch screens.

I'd like the writers to fill in the holes, instead of creating new characters and species, just fill the existing ones out. I'd settle for some introspection, dialogue and character development.

I hope you're wrong on this. I consider the freedom from canon to be an excellent opportunity to avoid Romulans, Klingons, Andorians, Tellerites...altogether (save the odd individual crew member from a Federation species seen before) and do some exploring of the UNKNOWN.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

To the person saying Pike should do more, I can think of only one way they could do anything with Pike outside of making him an "M" or "Commissioner Gordon" type character. It's an idea I like to call:

The New Menagerie AKA "Spock Caged": I have this fanon idea that "The Cage" still happened. Y'see, "The Cage" happened in the Prime Reality in 2254, since the Enterprise had already been launched by then. But in the altered reality it's 2258 when the Enterprise launches. So you'd think that "The Cage" never happened... BUT, remember:
-Pike is Earthbound in 2255, doing recruiting. He apparently does not have a ship, he's apparently waiting for the Enterprise to finish up. But I doubt he'd be getting such a great gig as the Federation Flagship without having done some great stuff before, no matter how good that dissertation about the Kelvin was.
-It is noted in the movie that Spock was one of SFA's most distinguished graduates and that he'd been doing Kobayashi Maru programming for 4 years (since 2254, when he'd be about 22). Yet I doubt that a "graduate" would be considered "distinguished" if he was on Terra Firma most of the time: Spock must have had some time aboard a operational vessel seeking out new life, etc. etc.

So here's what I think happened:
-So anyway, here's my idea: In early 2254, Captain Christopher Pike, aboard the USS Yorktown, traveled to Talos IV with a young Half-Vulcan named Spock (straight out of the academy!), a intelligent woman named Number One, etc. What they found there so shocked Starfleet Command that it was classified to only the highest ranked of eyes, and a General Order (7) was put out: anyone who visits or approaches Talos IV FOR ANY REASON will be put.... to death.
-Pike, however, was so affected by the experience that he decided to transfer off the Yorktown and instead do recruiting for SFA for a few years, and eventually become the captain of Starfleet's new flagship, USS Enterprise.
-Spock just plain old went back to SFA and became a instructor for a few years. He so impressed Pike in early '54, however, that Pike decided he'd be the First Officer when the Enterprise launches.

So anyway, here's my idea: The (23rd century) Romulan Empire (although you could easily replace it with Klingons, Tholians, Orions or Gorn) has decided to take advantage of the UFP's weakened situation (no more Planet Vulcan, many Starships destroyed, Earth having been attacked, etc.) and make a grab for power by raiding the outskirts of Federation territory and attacking Starfleet ships that dare to explore beyond the safety of the Federation. The Enterprise, having begun a 5-year mission of exploration, would be surveying a previously uncharted world (one that is uninhabitable but contains highly valuable resources) a couple LYs away from Talos when the attack comes. In the heat of battle, Kirk would be forced to leave the shuttle containing Spock, Uhura, Nurse Chapel and Ensigns Deadmeat, Cannonfodder and Cupcake behind, but would make a decree that he will come back for them. However, the problem is that the shuttle does not have enough supplies etc to last very long, so the shuttle has to go to the nearest M-class planet.... Talos IV.

There would be two threads: There'd be the general action of Kirk and rest of the Enterprise crew trying to fight off the Romulans/Klingons/Gorn/Whatever, and there would be the drama on Talos IV, where Spock and friends would be once again mentally probed by the Talosians (Spock, of course, would no doubt be taunted with images of Vulcan, his dead mother and having to choose between Uhura and Nurse Chapel, who would be the more logical [no pun intended] love interest for him). Then of course after the RomuKlinGorn raid is over there would be all the arguments between Kirk, Bones and Starfleet Command over whether to go rescue the shuttle. Kirk would win this argument, and if he didn't he'd just go anyway.

It'd never happen, but I think it'd be pretty cool.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

I like the choice for Nurse Chapel and Rand above.

Chapel needs to have a thing for kirk, rand for mcCoy though, since this is an AU.

i want to see spock really try and lift that fat-boned eyebrow, he's gonna need alot of practice.

i wanna see some classic spock/mccoy battles

i just hope they put as much effort in to the next couple films as they did with this one. should be great then.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

I think some stories that would work for a movie would be:

The Gorn

The Doomsday Machine

The Talosians

Gary Mitchell becoming a "God"

Harry Mudd or Cyrano Jones

Kor/Koloth/Kang

The Organians
