Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

In all seriousness, one thing I would like to see is a plot that really tests the Kirk-Spock-McCoy dynamic. We've spent STXI establishing the characters. Now, let's put them through their paces.

Couldn't agree more. I don't care what you think Star Trek is about. These stories are meaningless without the Kirk/Spock/McCoy relationship.

Bring back the Shat as Tiberius Kirk, even if only for a cameo.

He should be allowed to bow out as the grandaddy of the Kirk clan.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

Let's hear some ideas for what everyone wants to see in the sequel to this summer's hit film.

Personally I'd like to see:

- Spock Prime uniting the Vulcan race (the surviving population) with the existing Romulan Empire of 2258 to be one united species.

- Spock would technically be achieving the reunification he wanted in TNG

- The Federation and the Romulan/Vulcan civilization could be allies.. and the Klingons would definitely want to destroy such an alliance.

- It would be incredibly ironic for Nero. His actions in destroying Vulcan would unite the Federation and Romulans together; instead of destroying the Federation. It would be similar to Alan Moore's Watchmen; when Oxymandias launches a devastating nuclear attack that results in the world powers uniting.

- Kang, Kor and Koloth would need to be in it.

- I'd like to see Kirk fighting a Gorn too; that'd be epic (CGI like the animals on Delta Vega)

- I'd like to see Janice Rand and Nurse Chapel;

I'd like Kristen Bell (Heroes) for Janice Rand:

And Sarah Lancaster (Chuck) for Nurse Chapel:

- I'd like to see flashbacks of the Earth/Romulan Wars; to put their new alliance in context.

- I'd like to see modern versions of the dress uniforms and Captain's casual attire uniform

- I'd like some cameos by memorable TOS secondary characters; Mudd, Richard Daystrom etc

- I'd like to see the Andorians and Tellerites as part of the Federation council

That's it for now.

Love all of this...especially Bell as Rand

Bring him in as the voice of Harvey, a Gorn that only Jim Kirk can see, who tells him to do things.

I wouldn't mind a slightly larger intellectual weight on a sequel, im not asking for hour long debates, just some philosophical musings between Kirk/Spock/Bones.

Khan could be cool if they did it right. Or the Doomsday Machine. If they bring back an old character/story they need to change the story significantly though to make it seem new.

MEH. I dont care what they do. Im sure we will get rehasings of old stories threads via nuBSG.

I'd just like to see what was going on in the Laurentian system that required the entire Federation fleet to be there instead of answering Vulcan's distress call. That must be one heck of a story.

And more Andorians.

And Emperor Kirk from the Mirror Universe. Let's throw Shatner a bone.

JJ Abrams as a redshirt (sorry, couldn't resist):guffaw:

I want to see unknown actresses as Chapel and Rand.

I want them to explore a strange new world; and save the federation.

I want to see the following

1. Engineering Sets completely revisited, get rid of the pipes.
2. Dump the phasers, or keep them but bring back the phaser beams - I hate this pulse crap.
3. Tone down the size of the Warp engines (for all vessels) just a little.
4. For Plot - create a completely original story but have it feel like some sort of cross between Wrath of Khan, Corbomite Maneuver and Where no man has gone before to herald the beginning of the first 5 year mission.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

I would like to see a story involving both The Klingons and the Mirror Universe.

I'd looooooooooooooooove to see this cast doing their mirror universe counterparts.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

I had one wish before this movie was made. I wanted atleast one planet explosion. Now I expect more of it.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

All i want to see is another good Trek movie. Whatever they choose to put in it, so long as it's good, will be wonderful for me.

Agreed. As long as they build upon these characters and what they've established here, I am going to be thrilled. I want to see more of this universe we have found ourselves in.

J.

Likewise. They can tell a lot new stories now. Let's see them.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

I want a story where the only familiar things are the ship, crew and the basic structure of their universe. I don't want to see a remake of an episode or prior movie, nor do I want to see a bunch of other cameos of secondary and tertiary characters.

Go and "seek new life, new civilizations". The field is wide open, now. Embrace the freedom.

Exactly right!

And this is why I, a 48 year old Trek fan of the original series, enjoyed the movie so much. Easily my favourite Trek movie. At the heart of it, the character writing, casting and acting was the movie's strength. The characters were familair and fresh. Didn't think it was possible, but it was, and it was executed in spectacular fashion. Kudos to those who did the casting, writing and acting.

The plot and science and any moral understories are all secondary to the triumvirate of Kirk/Spock/McCoy.

Focus on that, and it will be successful Star Trek.

Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??

For the sake of continuity, give us an antagonist a'la Gul Dukat Winn Adami that would appear in more than one movie. The Shatner movies accomplished this, with John Schuck's Klingon ambassador appearing in ST4 and ST6.

TPTP would be wise to avoid trying creating or altering a villain to serve as a "new Borg," "new Khan", or "new Klingons." The old ones are just fine, they just need a fresh spin similar to one Chris Nolan and Heath Ledger (RIP) gave to the Joker.

I imagine it will be a while before they use the Romulans again, but the next Romulan movie should not have a Nero or a Shinzon, instead, give us some plots and counterplots between Section 31 and the Tal Shiar, with the Enterprise caught in the middle.

Hire Jeffrey Combs. Shran is still alive in Kirk's time, but seeing Jeff in a makeup-free role might be a nice change of pace.

For those wanting more science: heat death. It is an old scientific theory where entropy builds up in the universe, making life impossible. The Doctor Who serial Logopolis covered it pretty effectively. Imagine a story where we find out that the universe is on the verge of experiencing heat death, and we have alien race similar to the Prophets or the Organians trying to find a way to stop it. It would be a change of pace from the "Bond villain in alien makeup threatens the Federation" type plotline which a lot of people here are tired of.

As just an aside, I think it would be funny if Q (especially if they would a fresh take on Trelane) would observe Kirk's crew and make a comment along the lines of "How could Jean-Luc have evolved from somelike that." (The Q Continuum experiences time differently).
