Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the works

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

Lincoln the lawyer, the man of principle, the exceedingly gentle in all personal dealings, tracking down and killing sentient beings without trial or involvement with law authorities. Lovely.

You must love Buffy Summers.

Okay, how long before The Asylum announces: "Abe Lincoln: Zombie Hunter"?

Coming soon to DVD . . . . .

No, theirs would be George Washington: Vampire Hunter.

It would fit their pattern. When Indiana Jones came out they made Allan Quatermain and the Temple of Skulls.

I don't care 'bout no fictional teenage gals. Y'all can keep those, just leave my historical figures al -

sigh... :p

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

Yeah there's no need to be going into this again. Gaith's made his feelings about this project quite clear.

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

Because as we all know, things never get rehashed around here. :p

Maybe I should point out that Buffy's a more inspirational figure to some people than old Abe?

^ This movie is gonna set out to change that!!! ;)

Ah, but that's because Indy is trademarked so they couldn't use him.

Abe is in public domain . . . .

Sure, President Lincoln could defeat vampires. And zombies, too.

But how would he fare against...Chuck Norris?

^ They'll pull a "Let's you and him fight" and then team up. Abe's the Flash to Chuck's Superman. Chuck does everything amazingly well, Abe's specialized to be the best at one particular thing: hunting the undead.

I look forward to watching the Internet burn when Abe Lincoln starts spouting Whedonesque one-liners.

I can hear Harlan Ellison right now: "Challenge accepted!"

I'm not wild about the posters, but that's not going to keep me from seeing the movie anyway.

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

I find the concept interesting, and that nobody protested against it. Is it because so much time passed between Lincoln and today? I could imagine that if you do "Barack Obama: Vampire Hunter" and maybe let him run around like Blade that you'd get criticized into oblivion.

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

Looking better and better, myabe if it's successful we might get more of the Classic Hunter series made.

Re: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter produced by Tim Burton in the work

Will it have any scenes set in a gay bar?:techman:

Eh. Being "criticized" also means you're being paid attention to, and generating publicity that will reach a potentially paying audience.

I'm sure some uptight historians have already complained about the book on which it was based, but how many people care what uptight historians, or any type of historians, have to say about their entertainment choices? If I were doing PR for this movie, I'd have some really uptight historians lined up to start bitching about how unseemly the movie is. :D

Doing a supernatural-horror movie with real life current public figures in it is an interesting idea. I doubt Obama, being a public figure, could sue for libel. Anyway, if he's the good guy, what's the problem? We can always say Republicans = vampires, and it's a political allegory. (With that hair, Mitt would make a fantastic bloodsucker and I'm 99% sure Santorium is already one.)
