A weird idea about Star Trek canon

Star Trek and Alien
If a Star Trek movie involving Borg invasion or boarding a Borg ship was as scary as Alien, with the same uncertainty as to the fate of the principal cast, there would be no need for a ST-Alien crossover.

Star Trek and Stargate Atlantis, Farscape, etc.
Too many direct references to Star Trek in those shows. Farscape is so out there anyway that it's hard to cross over. The closest it gets - to my knowledge - is that hilarious Stargate-SG1 200th episode where they have to contribute ideas for a show based on their adventures and they pitch through the whole panel of science fiction shows.

How to work around a show established as fiction in another
A time traveller used their knowledge of the future as a basis for a so-called fictitious show. (Like it was done within Stargate about Stargate (Wormhole X-treme! ep.) - except without time travelling.)

Why they shouldn't produce crossovers
Crossovers must be fun in fanfics as they are in imagination. It's impossible to resist daydreaming one, especially with the help of the notion of alternate universes - and skipping universes also allows to skip in time. For example, wouldn't you like to bring nanites from another universe to cure the Drakh plague in B5 Crusade? Especially as this show was never finished.
But personally, whenever I watch a crossover on TV, especially at the beginning (Just caught the CSI-Without A Trace one tonight on French TV - an acceptable crossover), I get an uneasy feeling that they're expecting us to stretch our suspension of disbelief - to talk politely. I'll never forget how dumb it felt the first time I saw a crossover in an animated series as a child.

Yes, I most certainly would. Good idea. *sets transporter for alternate universe*
Crusade. What a shame.

You're a Crusade fan too?
How about Galen? One of my favourite sci fi characters. Damn, in what thread can we discuss this? Philosophy?

LOVED Crusade, what I saw of it. Did you know the very next episode was supposed to showcase BESTER, as a fugitive?!

Oooo LOVED Galen, too. He was very good in the Centauri trilogy JMS commissioned to cover the years between Objects in Motion and Sleeping In Light...I cry every time I watch that ep, btw.

We can discuss wherever you please, madmoiselle.

I'm not familiar with Bester but I looked him up on Wikipedia and as you can guess I have a big affinity with telepaths. Although telepathy without mind reading would suffice me. To project, to influence, to pacify. Not to read minds. It's hard to choose between kicking ass and subduing telepathically.

I unfortunately only saw the 13 episodes of Crusade (and the movie Call to Arms that introduces it, almost no other B5. I'm not very temped if it doesn't involve Galen. I know he's in one episode of a 2-episode straight-to-DVD sequel to B5 or something.) I taped Crusade but I keep missing episode 9 because it's the one they always show first - one of the 6 that feature Galen! Do you know that the actor, Peter Woodward, is also a Fight Arranger?
He guest stars in Stargate Atlantis episode The Tower in S1.

I can't see Janeway crying like Lucy, or getting drunk on "vitameatavegamin." :wtf:

Concerning Patrick Stewart and Doctor Who, the "buzzing" rumor at the moment is that he may appear in one of the 2009 specials or (if the scheduling is an issue) later in one of the 2010 episodes as the "Meddling Monk", a character presented during the William Hartnell era and the first TimeLord other than the Doctor himself to appear in the series.

I say "buzzing" rumor because it seems each year a new fannish casting fantasy starts to somehow include Stewart in fashion or another. First, he was to play the next incarnation of the Doctor, last year, many fans dreamed he (or alternatively, Ben Kingsley) would play Davros, now, it's the Meddling Monk.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Stewart appear in some capacity, but I have 'reasonable doubts" based upon past speculations.

Sincerely,

Bill

What's that got to do with crossovers?
Anyway, that rumor seems pretty much based in actors' and producers' intention, if not in actual contract signings. Steward said if he worked well with David Tennant on Hamlet (on stage), he would do it. He really means to.

I would love to see a Doctor Who crossover with Star Trek but considering the Doctors stance on crossing over into parallel universes and the whole idea that doing it would cause big problems I think he'd likely have something to say about unless they quietly ignored or worked around that little detail. I can only imagine what the Doctor must think of the Sliders universe, or Multiverse, where every week there crossing the barriers between universes.

For the Alien/Predator series couldn't the aliens from Voyagers Nemesis be considered as a distant cousin of some sort to the Predator thereby connecting those two together?

The likeness between them is quite uncanny (or just very deliberate).

Consider it a "tangent anecdote". I thought since several people posting within this thread were in favor of an ST/DW crossover, they might be interested to read a prominant Trek actor might become involved with the actual DW program.

I apologize if you believe I've derailed your thread.

Sincerely,

Bill

Yeah, yeah, I saw it. Sorry for losing my sense of humour. It's even getting worse, today.
I don't know what's happening to me. I'm not PMSing!

Apology humbly accepted. You've been most polite - and of course, this is not "my" thread. :)

I'd say deliberate. They just think we'll swallow anything. It's like those Breens looking just like Princess Leia's bounty hunter costume.
Besides, if I was a special makeup artist, I'd be proud of seeing my work being doubly appreciated. (Unless somebody's idea was stolen by somebody else.)

How about a Star Trek/FireFly crossover? Any one of the series would be of interest. You can imagine two "good" guys not liking each other. Could Mal Reynolds and Capt. Kirk get along? In the 24th century how would Reynolds view the Fed/Maquis conflict if his boat was plunked in the ST verse? How would a Fed denizen think about terraforming multiple moons without checking for any pre microbial life forms?

You know, they just might. If there's any Trek captain (onscreen, anyway) that Mal would get on with, it would probably be Kirk.

Probably wouldn't take long to answer THAT question; the Browncoats pretty much *are* the Maquis, but with more bullets.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nathan Fillion as the lead in a new Star Trek series. He'd make a great Kirk-like commanding officer out on the Post-Dominion War frontier.

I remember reading a one-page QL fanfic at a convention once where Sam leapt into a red shirt on the TOS set in 1967. As he realizes who and where he is, he says, kind of thinking out loud, "Beam me up, Scotty" right as a writer is walking past him. The writer hears it and says "I like that." He writes it down and Sam leaps out.
