With the mega-budget J.J. Abrams movie coming out next year and the Remastered TOS being heavily hyped and promoted in many circles, anything's possible in TREK in the near future. Paramount seems to be reviving its interest in the franchise now that ENTERPRISE and its low ratings are now a memory from the past. But I wouldn't expect to see a new weekly series of any kind for a long time to come. The TV franchise seems to be in a coma and if the new movie doesn't do as well as many hope it will it'll just push off reviving the weekly series format even further.

Yeah, as much as I'd love a weekly dose of Trek, I don't see a new series being a possibility unless the movie is REALLY successful. Otherwise networks won't be clamoring to sign a deal for a series, and networks are already against sci-fi as it is.

The way DS9, VOY and ENT saw their ratings decay or plummet over time I don't think Paramount and CBS are going to try another weekly big-budget series until and unless the new Abrams movie scores big. Big enough for the studio to recoup most of its investment at least. And if the movie is popular there might be a clammoring for a new show to make even more money off of.
