The new Shatner novel about Kirk and Spock entering the Academy around 2249 makes a passing reference to "Ambassador" T'Pol having recently spoken on Earth at some Academy or Federation Council function. So at least in the non-canon TREK universe T'Pol was still alive and kicking as late as the 2240s. So Blalock could theoretically make a cameo in the new film as a 180-odd year old T'Pol.

The success of TOS and its characters in the years after cancellation can hardly be described as a failure in the same context as ENT.

ENT has only been off the air a couple of years. I think you're going to be surprised at what happens.

Why, Enterprise is still remembered by its fans as TOS is by its fans.

Difference is as years went on and it was repeated and later had spin off movies and series made it garnered new fans (come on you cant say there arent TOS fans now who came into Trek by watching Next Gen ect)

Enterprise could get the same thing if it werent for that section of 'fans' who constantly bash it for not being what they expected...just like how this new movie is going to dive, too many expectations and ideas based on rumours or more often than not other fan ideas.

(EDIT, said TOS 'was' remembered by its fans in past tense, obviously not true as Im a fan and remember it)

Good point. While I never envisage ENT having a mass cult following on the level of a TOS or TNG, it'll always be seen as the prequel TREK that had a lot of potential but got axed early by a dying network. Stories remained untold. That will fuel some kind of revival down the road, even if its' largely fan-based.

I'd be more pissed off if it did! But in all honesty I've no intention of watching it. Trek was soured for me by Enterprise. Nimoy might be enough for me to watch it eventually, but I'm certainly in no rush.

And when I'm stubborn like that I usually stick to my guns. I've not seen Casino Royale yet.

I'm sure something will be put into the new movie as a reference to Archer and ENTERPRISE. The Xindi probe attack of 2153 was arguably the biggest historical event for humanity between First Contact and the birth of the Federation. And Archer is supposedly the most famous space explorer of the entire 22nd century. And don't forget...Paramount knows many TREK fans are still smarting and mad from ENT's early cancellation. They'll slip something in the movie just to shut some of us the hell up.

one think is having Tpol being mother of Sarak thus Spock grandmother. She/Tpol is the one that talks Spock into joining Starfleet. Problem is Abrams casted to old actor for Sarak(Cross) to make this work.

    Sounds awfully fanboyish IMO.

And "Coto-esque", that everything in Star Trek MUST link to everything else.

And keep trying to convince yourself of the fiction that Enterprise was a failure, that it sucked, and that it was worthless, and stop posting on the Ent forum.

HRHTheKING, lay off the digs at fans of the show. If you don't like the show then criticise it in a constructive way.

    Let's keep it friendly everyone.

Very well. I shall rephrase it as: thus far, no indication or evidence exists to believe that ENT is gaining support from a wider audience in the two years since its cancellation. There is also nothing to suggest that this situation will change. As such, when supporters of that particular incarnation of this franchise claim otherwise, I am skeptical as to what they are basing such a claim upon.

    Not me.
I only go to see 2 movies a year and the 2 I plan to see in '08 do not include the words "Star Trek" in the title.

Well its funny how if you show a range of Trek episodes to Trek fans the one they normally say are the worst are the TOS ones and some of the best are either DS9 or ENT...Voyager generally sucks in everyones opinion and a few like TNG. Theres a few ppl in my university who say they hate Star Trek (all of it) but have watched ENT episodes and enjoyed them.

If you ask most people on the street do they like Star Trek they normally remember that rubbish TV show with the fella in the pointed ears.

Star Trek in general is loosing fans and not gaining any, ENTs problem is that TOS fans hated it for not being truley before TOS in style and will hate the movie for not being in that style either.

I'm a lifelong TOS fan and I've never thought that about ENT or the new film. I liked ENT and I am looking forward to the new movie.

Don't speak for this TOS fan. Not everyone is as narrow minded.

I think some people take this "style" thing way too seriously. Who knows, way things are going, fashion and design of the sixties will be back in a couple hundred years or whatever. Could be because...blabla, after all that shit with the Xindi happend, people started taking on a brighter perspective. Like after World War Two.

Not saying that's true, but I prefer thinking that because we all know that re-creating the sixties-feel and wonderful "cheesiness" that characterises TOS wasn't (and isn't) going to happen. ENT's design is far more consistent with what we see as "future technology".

That being said... I think those who won't see Trek XI just to make a point are going to miss one hell of a movie. And I honestly hope that there will be a small, subtle but unmistakeable reference to ENT.

And if the style doesn't match my expectations... well, screw it. Important is the storyline, the characters, things that actually matter.

I think ENTERPRISE as a weekly series is dead and gone for good. But ENT projects for download on the web? Or straight-to-DVD/BluRay movies and episodes? Always a possibility, especially since TOS Remastered has been so popular and successful and the new movie might be a big hit. If TREK XI is anything remotely like a huge hit or blockbuster, it might convince Paramount to revisit ENT down the road in one of the aforementioned formats.

You really think? It would be spectacular, but I think in the end the difficulties will outweigh the possibilities for profit.

But I would love to be proven wrong. Straight-to-DVD ENT would rock my socks.
