A Taco Bell Taco Shell Made Out of Doritos?!

Well, at least you've moved on from your earlier talking point of "if you fry it properly, the food won't take on the properties of the frying medium" or whatever bullshit you were trying to hawk. :p

You know as well as I do that if the oil is hot enough the food will not take on much. If you measure the oil before and then after cooking in it the amount will virtually be the same, meaning very little is being consumed by food-eater.

Pollo Rico is a must. I used to go there every day when I was in high school. Dammit those baby chickens were marvelous...

The other place I was talking about though is not near Ballston though. I'm talking about the shopping center further northwest at the corner of Lee Highway and Harrison Street. There's a Harris Teeter, a 31 Flavors ice cream, a Starbucks, and a Safeway across the street. Taqueria El Poblano is sandwiched in the shopping center there. Plenty of parking too.

PREACH IT

Yucca's on Hillhurst is one of my favorites.
If you’re ever on the Westside, try Baja Bud’s at National & Sepulveda, Eduardo’s at Santa Monica & Westwood, or Taco Plus at Santa Monica & Bundy. Their food is better than sex.

OK, different Harris Teeter. Can't say I ever go out that way, but I'll have to make a point to try at some point.

And I couldn't agree more about Pollo Rico.

Have you guys ever been to Chipotle or Pancheros? Their burritos are about twice the size of that thing.
I love Chipotle, but I also love Taco Bell. Sometimes I feel like Chipotle, and other times I feel like Taco Bell.

There are hundreds of taquería-style places here in L.A. that serve quick, tasty, relatively healthy Tex-Mex food. I wouldn’t go near a Taco Bell if I was starving.
I do love the authentic Mexican restaurants out here. But its not like you can eat Filet Mignon every day, sometimes you just feel like a hamburger.

Its a nice part of town, just far enough from Clarendon/Courthouse to feel suburbanish, without becoming Suburbia. The downside is you have to drive down shady parts of Lee Highway to get there.

:techman:

See, that's the downside to living in a small town. In larger cities, you have a vastly greater number of choices.

Did you cover it in batter before hand and are you secretly Scottish with these eating habits?

Speak for yourself. I could eat filet mignon every day.

(Whether I should or not is a different question)

Anyway--I read the OP, and my reaction was "A taco shell made out of Nacho-flavoured Doritos? Yuck!"

"It should be made out of Jalapeno & Cheddar-flavoured Doritos."

^^Speaking of. I've been meaning to tell you about a great little place in Arlington at the Lee Harrison center -- a couple doors up from Harris Teeter "Taqueria El Poblano."

Get the scratch margaritas and the lime steak tacos. It's advertised as "LA-style Mexican food" but it's still pretty damn good. You will not be disappointed.

Even though I don't live in Arlington anymore, I must check that place out! Maybe on my way home from Alexandria.

I still wish they would bring back the chili cheese burrito though.

It's still on-menu at some locations, and on the last few occasions I've had Taco Bell (which generally happens on road trips with my wife), I've asked for it -- even when not on the menu -- and they've made it with no problem.

I'll try that. I used to eat those every day after school... probably not healthy, but oh well.

Of the 1,523,816 (not an exact figure) Taco Bells in Albuquerque, there's one that still has CCBs every Saturday. And every Saturday the place is packed with college kids.

As tonight is a Saturday, I decided to venture to the local Taco Bell after a night at the watering hole, and order one of these Nacho Tacos.

It was phenomenal.

That is all, carry on.
