A Taco Bell Taco Shell Made Out of Doritos?!

Chipotle is at least twice the price. It definitely tastes better, but so does real Mexican food.

Chipotle does cost more, but it tastes better. I like their salad with chicken. I can delude myself into thinking it's healthy-ish.

Fresno and Bakersfield have the Taco Bell Doritos taco. Living in Fresno, I still haven't tried it--I don't like that flavor of Doritos. The good thing about Taco Bell, aside from its price, is that it tastes the same every time you go. I hadn't had any in years and it was just as I remembered. The fresco versions aren't bad. I don't like their cheese, so it's a decent option for cheap food-type stuff.

The closest thing my town's Taco Bell has to competition is Wendy's.

Mmm... I had a Wendy's classic single today (I allow myself one fast food outing a month and I always pick Wendy's).

Nope, same quality as the one I used to eat countless times at 3am back in college, halfway across the country!

Hm. Maybe ours here in Ohio just suck.

Last time I ate at Wendy's I got food poisoning. All I got was a "chocolate" shake.

Never again.

Never again.

I miss chocolate shakes. I've yet to find a sugar free chocolate shake from any nearby fast food restaurant. I wish our local Steak n' Shake would serve up sugar free shakes. Oh, I'd pay double the price for one of those.

^ Wendy's does have great burgers and shakes.

I also remember this dessert thingy they had when I was in high school - AFAIK, it was pretty much just the filling from an apple pie, spooned into a box.

Our Wendy's is the best around. The burger is juicy, and cheese is hot, the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions are cold, and the bun is just warm and soft like it should be. The reason I only pick Wendy's as my once a month fast food stop is because McD's and others like them just taste nasty, so Wendy's it is.

I remember that. I don't know what it was called, but I remember it!
Now, though, they have the caramel apple Frosty parfait, and I hate them for it!

I had the Taco Loco last weekend, and it is pretty good. I got it without sour cream because I figure sour cream isn't really that good for you. I am however getting sick of all those commercials.

San Francisc-NO! Sacrament-NO! L.A? N.O! Only in Bakersfield and Fres-YES!

Well, what ya do is you find something you like and you stick with it. Since they introduced the 5-layer burrito, I haven't eaten anything else (aside from those damn apple empenadas ) from Taco Bell. All the 5-layer is is just beef, cheese, sour cream, beans, and something else that slips my mind at the moment. Maybe a different kind of cheese?

Wendy's is definitely the best fast food place, although I have a special nostalgic fondness for the Burger King chicken sandwich.

I overdid it with Wendy's when I was in college. I can't really eat it too much anymore.

Burger King is right down the road from my work, and the entire staff makes fun of how often I eat it (at least twice a week).

Here in California we have untold amounts of Mexican restaurants, authentic, tex-mex, or chain style, of both the fast food and sit down variety.

I still find the time to enjoy Taco Bell.

Your taco bell probably has higher standards due to such competition.

Nope, they're all the same.

I was taken to lunch last week to a REAL Mexican restaurant by a friend who thankfully spoke Spanish, as I was the only one in the place who did not. That is authentic. It was Oaxacan (hwa-hah-kin) food. No idea what the food was called, but it was fried flat bread with the typical toppings (meat, beans, lettuce, salsa, cheese, and a bit of the equivalent of sour cream). Delish!

Yeah, some of the best food I've ever eaten was prepared by the cooks where I used to work (who were all likely Mexican if that wasn't clear from the context). If we actually sold the food they made in their spare time rather than our normal menu, we'd have some of the best food of any restaurant in the country, imo.

^My restaurant was exactly the same way. One of the best things about working in a restaurant is being able to invent your own food if you get tired of the shit on the menu.
