Take the TOS bridge and perhaps the bridge from ENT and throw them into a blender, and maybe add in a few completely new elements just to keep it fresh. Despite my feelings towards ENT as a series, the bridge design for the NX-01 just works. The metallic/bare-bones look, the LCD displays, the push-buttons... all nicely wrapped up in a way that looks futuristic to the audience but is more primitive than 24th century Trek.
I've never seen THAT picture before... obviously a publicity shot taken with the bridge's "wild segments" in... confused... arrangement. But yeah...Kane_Steel said:

Cripes. That's a concept drawing of the bridge from Phase II (I think). I do remember seeing it in a "Starlog" magazine decades ago (before STMP).

You are correct, that is indeed the bridge concept for the Enterprise that was to be used in the Phase II series, if it had gone ahead. Elements of that design did get utilized in ST:TMP (the ceiling dome, for example).
Yeah, it IS retro-70s, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad of a design, folks. It was a natural extension of the 60s bridge.
