Spoilers A Piece of The Action

What you do not know and must be told is, the book has a complete set of Blurays in the back cover, so the Iotians had to invent Bluray players....

Kirk is at his most reckless in this episode, attempting to break into Oxmyx's lair by himself with only a tommy gun and quickly getting captured by Krako

Perhaps he was trying to emulate the legendary Captain Archer and his amazing record of getting captured?

Al Capone and Bugs Moran (two of the biggest crime bosses) were both Catholic, an exhaustive history of the mobs of Chicago likely would have mention this.

So if the mobsters on Sigma Iotia Two were emulating the people in "The Book" as closely as they seemed to be, then Bela Oxmyx and Jojo Krako (and many others playing along) would be Catholic.

Without other books, the meaning of "Catholic" would not be obvious. Even something as simple as what a "mass" is, and what is done and said there would not be documented. There might be references to Mary, Jesus, saints etc. There might be references to sacraments. In no way are mobster's actions anything close to religious ideals. Although, might be close to actual Catholic practices in some cases (inquisition, crusades, obedience to hierarchy, hoarding of wealth etc). So, the mobsters might be Catholic by name, but they could not practice it for real. They would not even have the Old and New Testament.

That's true. For some reason they were not interested in them. I can't remember exactly, but wasn't there a comment about technical manuals or something like that?

This is one of my favorite episodes. I liked it when I first saw it as a kid in the early 70s. The humor like on Tribbles was appealing to me back then and I still appreciate it. It seemed to me that both Shatner and Nimoy enjoyed the humor and lightheartedness.

No, not as I remember, Bored! There's nothing in episode guides or other online services either!
