A Medieval Man Ponders Life in the 23rd Century

How do you think someone from, say, the 13th century (someone well-educated now - perhaps a philosopher of some sort) would have envisaged the 23rd century? Assuming we're talking about the intellectual elite of the medieval world, how would they have imagined the technology of the distant future, etc.
 
Very hard to say. A lot of literature of the period indicates they were very religious and would see a lot of how we live right now as the work of the Devil. Goodness knows what another 200 years will bring.
 
I assume from "medieval" that we're talking about a European thinker? I don't think he'd dream up much of interest, frankly. The time was called the Dark Ages for a reason... a first-century Greek built a steam engine, for pete's sake, but that was before religion became the be-all and end-all of European society.
