A little less "different" than my previous kitbash...

Has anyone tried re-imagining the Grissom/Oberth, to somehow give the ship a slightly different arrangement to allow for normal turbolift access through the pylons without totally changing the ship's appearance?

I'd say put a connecting neck, like in Dumont mesh I use sometimes for my pictures, and will probably be the ship I use for my comics, once I get a good enough compy powerful enough for hardcore 3D imagining.

Just a small addition like that can solve the mystery, plus it can give a small ship some claws to protect itself with.:techman:

The site is back up now, after four days of attempting to contact them by the tech support email AND a phone message (their tech support number goes to voice mail).

Excellent Build. You said "right out of the box". Is this a scratch build or did this really come in a box? Kevin

No no, I said I was GOING to build the Dar Star Grissom kit right out of the box, but then I started fiddling with the parts, and decided to kit bash a whole new design using the Grissom's pod with an Enterprise saucer. The two booms and the vertical engine pylons are scratch-built out of plastic, the pod and the saucer are parts from two different model kits.

1/1000. So the pod and the Conny saucer in this bash should be to the same scale.

Of course, there's still... discussion... about the size of the Grissom. :)

Great work Forbin. :) It kind of reminds me in some respects of Spock's temporary command in the DC comics, the USS Surak. It appeared to be based on the Oberth, albeit not drawn the best. Pics from Mirror Universe Saga.

Aft top, overlooking the saucer and nacelles. It's possible that this vessel might not actually be the Surak, since it includes a joined neck section which isn't visible in the port view and would be hidden from the starboard view. But the dialogue boxes seem to indicate it's intended to be Spock's ship.

Im hoping to see a version made from Micro machine parts on ebay. ^_^

Like that is going to happen. Micro Machines are out of production, and are dwindling in number. I doubt that anyone would be crazy enough to chop up a perfectly good Micro Machine.

I'm hoping they will start getting released again by Hasbro so such a thing would be feasible. As I recall, the Enterprise Refit was rather hard to come by especially.

Check Ebay ;) under Star Trek Micro Machines :)

Plenty of Trek micro's there and some Custom ones :)

I have near 15 custom made micro's off there :)

I like it, and it bears a striking resemblance to the unused ship from TSFS.....
