I've actually been trying to compile a tech-manual-type book of all my bashes in universe-chronological order, with a page of orthos (with specs) and a page of photos for each. I only did orthos for maybe 1/4 of them, though.

Has anyone tried re-imagining the Grissom/Oberth, to somehow give the ship a slightly different arrangement to allow for normal turbolift access through the pylons without totally changing the ship's appearance?

^^ Agreed, Reliant is quite close to the refit Connie even, as for secundary hull access, those pylons are thick enough to support a turbolift.

As to size, the Reliant would have more habitable internal volume with its aft superstructure, because the Chaffee's pod is unmanned sensor equipment (except for one control/maintenance room).

Oh, and I'm aware of the irony that I, who have always argued for the Grissom's pod to be automated and uninhabited, put window decals on the top bulge of the pod. I'm figgering a maintenence/control room up there, infrequently manned and accessible only by transporter.

And you're not alone in the un-inhabited pod... The windows don't hurt it in this case- you've justified them.
