That really was not my intent. I had decided to delete my post because I had already posted the new video in my opening message at the start of the thread. I then changed my mind. Seriously I could not care less what position the thread is in on the forum. Delete or lock the thread for all I care.Bumping the thread by deleting your last post and posting it again: Noticed. Please don't do this again.
I watched THofTKP part 2. I was disappointed that it didn't address the matter of why we didn't see any smooth headed Klingons in TNG/DS9 era (except the DS9 tribbles ep but that was quirky).
In DS9 "Blood Oath", it was made known that Klingons have long life spans. Three smooth headed TOS Klingons (though all three were no longer smoothies but ridged) were the star characters of that ep. So there must have been many more TOS smooth headed Klingons who survived into the TNG era. Where were they?
Was there a massive campaign, like a vaccination campaign, implemented by the Klingon authorities to ridge the smoothies? Was it coercive?
What happened to those who could not be "cured"? Or for those who did not want to be cured for whatever reason? Did they get sent off to concentration camps? or was genocide committed?
According to THofTKP, the TOS period was the greatest expansion of the Klingon Empire. Glory days that were achieved by smooth headed Klingons. Wouldn't there have been a lot of smooth headed Klingons who would have been proud of themselves and their imperialist achievements? They didn't need no stinkin' ridges to achieve what they did.
Was there resistance among segments of the population to be ridged? Did the transition from TOS looking Klingons to ridged Klingons go smoothly (no pun intended)?
Thank you for posting that video. These videos of the history of the Klingon people uses only canonical sources of information. Therefore as this issue has not yet been addressed in canon the video could not either. We have to leave it up to the imagination.
Perhaps most Klingon's did not like the fact that there DNA had been corrupted by alien (Human) DNA and were happy to change their appearance back.
You might like this short fan film which shows a smooth headed Klingon in the TNG era and explores some of the issues you mentioned. For a fan film it is really very good and is now part of my own head canon.

Scottish.I noticed the distinct accents of the actors. Sounds like they were from somewhere on the British Isles.
That would make a great plot point for a film.Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that there would have been many who would have resisted changing, not to mention those who couldn't be "cured"?
It just seems more likely that a regressive and barbaric people like the Klingons would seek to kill off those who didn't fit the image of the "true" -- ridged-- Klingon. It seems like it would be in the nature of the imperial Klingons to eliminate the dishonorable ones, meaning the smooth headed Klingons.
Y'know, I never noticed before...are that dude's eyes glowing blue?? If so, then yeah, the augment reversal went completely sideways there.Of course in the Kelvin Timeline the Klingon's attempted the treatment to reverse the Augment virus at a much earlier point in their history, only something went horribly wrong in the procedure and they all ended up looking like this!

We know in the prime timeline that the Klingon's were able to successfully remove the Human augmented DNA, thus restoring their true appearance. But what if in the Kelvin timeline instead of just removing the Human Augment DNA they simply reactivated dormant genes. Thus these Klingon's are something new. Part traditional Klingon + Part Human Augment (with blue eyes). Still they were no mach for a real Augment, Khan kicked their arses.Y'know, I never noticed before...are that dude's eyes glowing blue?? If so, then yeah, the augment reversal went completely sideways there.![]()
