The TNG writers realized that the TOS Klingons wouldn't be good allies, so they reversed the species' traits so now the Klingons were the honorable ones and the Romulans were the treacherous ones.

But no, seriously, any incorporation of Roman or psuedo-Roman culture would suit me fine, perhaps even better if it doesn't have a one-to-one relationship with Holywood portrayals of it...
