A good endpoint for Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Which season other than Season 9 would have been a good endpoint for the show? I think Season 8 (when Goren and Eames were getting their swing back) or Season 5 (when Deakins and Carver were still around) would have been the right place to end it.

Whichever season it was when they decided to break up the orginial cast.

The original Law & Order could get away with multiple, multiple cast changes because the stories were based around the cases, not the characters. SVU and CI, however, are more based around the characters and not the cases. So, when the characters are out of the picture, there's not much need to keep watching. That is unless you want to try to connect with all new characters.

I agree with Starbreaker. I always considered Criminal Intent the lesser of the two original spin off series and much have preferred SVU which I used to watch all the time and catch occasionally.

I guess it's all but assured that CI is cancelled now? :( Have we had any official word from USA on this? CI still has a page on their website, and there's nothing that says it's been cancelled.

As for an endpoint, I actually think the opening of Season 9 might have been a good one. They should have just had those two episodes be the series finale.

I know you are a Yankee fan so your brain cells might screw up your brain waves but really... come on! :p

READ MY LAST POST! WHY DO YOU THINK THIS GOT PUMPED? :guffaw:

The series was flawed from the beginning when it became all about D'Onofrio's Goren, a path that SVU is not teetering on the precipice with Meloni and Harigitay.

The reason the original Law and Order was on for 20 seasons was that the show could work with any actor and was not a vehicle for a star.

Sorry. I didn't even read that link.

And...Goren is back? The hell?!?

I mean, I'm glad he IS back, but wasn't he, like, fired and stuff?

Looks like USA doesn't care much. Only 8 episodes... :(

I'm only glad that the show is given an opportunity to give a proper goodbye and to bring back Goren if it even it is for one episode or so. Maybe they'll come up with better episodes this time around.

Most of SVU's fans watch because of Meloni/Hargitay though. The show dies when they leave.

But the show still could have survived if they had rotated characters early. Now, they're in too deep.

Why? Why? WHY?!? Let it rest. Does Goren even really need a wrap up?

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but it's too bad that Nicole Wallace is dead. (She used to really nauseate me.) I used to think that a good way for CI to end would be if she and Goren killed each other.
