Which season other than Season 9 would have been a good endpoint for the show? I think Season 8 (when Goren and Eames were getting their swing back) or Season 5 (when Deakins and Carver were still around) would have been the right place to end it.
I think a good endpoint would have been about 5 years ago...
Or maybe an 8 episode season 10....

But no... they couldn't pick up the much greater L&O for any amount of episodes...
I guess it's all but assured that CI is cancelled now?Have we had any official word from USA on this? CI still has a page on their website, and there's nothing that says it's been cancelled.
As for an endpoint, I actually think the opening of Season 9 might have been a good one. They should have just had those two episodes be the series finale.
I know you are a Yankee fan so your brain cells might screw up your brain waves but really... come on!
The series was flawed from the beginning when it became all about D'Onofrio's Goren, a path that SVU is not teetering on the precipice with Meloni and Harigitay.
The reason the original Law and Order was on for 20 seasons was that the show could work with any actor and was not a vehicle for a star.

Most of SVU's fans watch because of Meloni/Hargitay though. The show dies when they leave.
Why? Why? WHY?!? Let it rest. Does Goren even really need a wrap up?
