A Call for Collaborators on an Academic Research Project

I'm compiling lists of Star Trek TV series episodes that feature similar themes/tropes/motifs for an academic research project. My colleagues and I are in the midst of building a Star Trek episode recommender system that takes an episode of choice as input, and returns a ranked list of similar episodes for viewer enjoyment. Our aim is to publish an open-access, peer reviewed journal article about the method. But to do so we need to gather reliable data on Star Trek episode similarities as judged by human experts in order to validate the method. Ideally, we wish to curate at least 25 lists of similar episodes in collaboration with a handful of people who known the various Star Trek TV series inside and out.

Checkout my user page on Memory Alpha for more information on the project.

Feel free to contact me should you 1) wish to collaborate on the project in an organized manner, or 2) have any questions/comments/feedback about the project.

We are happy to include official collaborators as coauthors on any resulting academic papers that make use of the collected data.

Here are a few ways to get in touch with me:
- This thread.
- My email address as shown on my personal website.
- My Memory Alpha user talk page.

Cheers,

Paul S
