Spoilers A big hint about the finale/season 3 has dropped...

I doubt it - Netflix has first dibs on any shows that are seen as linked to Discovery so they plan to keep the Picard show completely separately because it allows them to shop the rights around (although that doesn't mean it might not still end up on netflix).
Netflix only distributes DSC internationally. CBS owns all of Star Trek and distributes it domestically, so it's their call what they do with the property they own, not Netflix.

I was just reminded of a little tidbit that I had forgotten many moons ago.

On the Enterprise-D, the captain's yacht was named Calypso.

Probably will have no connection to Discovery, or even the Picard series.

But still....

Yes. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

I think THIS PART RIGHT HERE hits the nail on it's head!

I have no problem with a magic superdrive that instantly jumps anywhere in Trek (well, maybe a bit for canon issues. But not really, if it's dealt with in the long run)

What irritates the heck outta' me is "we have that magic, galaxy spanning-mushroom, that's somehow alive, even though it has no soil and would need to eat the entire universe for it's energy consumption. But it's roots are everywhere, on every single inch of space and time through the entire multiverse. And - listen to that - we can SLIDE on it's roots! To everywhere! Isn't that cool, dude? Don't you wanna' travel on 'shrooms as well?"

Sigh. i guess it isn't cool anymore to go to the edge of the galaxy and get turned into a godlike being anymore. Or to bring in a guy with 2 fingers on each hand to improve the efficiency of the warp drive that sends the ship to a place where people's thoughts turn into reality.

Am I the only one thinking the DISC will sail off into the future, and the crew ends up on a Constitution class Discovery, NCC-1031-A?

If they were to get a new ship, it wouldn't have to be named Discovery. Discovery works on its own as a show name.

That just sounds really disrespectful to the Discovery show, story, crew and cast, if you ask me. I like DISCO the way it is right now, I like the main crew they have already. I would not, as a fan, want it to morph into a completely different show to pander to those who'd prefer Pike to be the lead.

I hope people who want a Pike Series get it. But people hoping that Discovery takes place on the Enterprise and Burnham is gone? No. That's something else. Face it: This isn't your Star Trek series and it's not ever going to be.

If CBSAA wants to put out Star Trek series all-year round, wait for the one you'll like or ask for the one you would like. And just accept that Discovery isn't for you. There's no law that says we have to like every Star Trek series and there's certainly no law that says we have put ourselves through watching every single episode of every single one of them if we're not going to enjoy it.

I very much doubt they would merge the cast of the the two shows like that.

More likely is a Pike/Enterprise spin off or no more Pike at all for now.

We really need to see exactly what occurs next week, not what they are planning to do but what actually happens and if the crews get split up who goes where and with whom.

If Spock goes anywhere we know he will return but we cant say the same for anyone else.

Burnham could end up anywhere, she could end up right back at the beginning.

Not only that, but one that seems to be related to Earth mushrooms as well. I know that isn't explicitly stated, but heavily hinted at based on humans being the only species with similar genetics. It at least suggests that the universal mycelial network is related to Earth's mycelial network.

When did they say that humans are the only ones with similar genetics?

Given how Star Trek discusses one species seeding the galaxy, this does not strike me as far fetched as it might seem.

It's in Choose Your Pain, they explain how only a human could be genetically resequenced to act as the navigator like the tardigrade because of still having similar DNA to mushrooms. Humans were the only species matching in the Federation database, and Tilly was asking if they should also check the classified database at the Daystrom institute.

Really? I missed that. It doesn't rally make much sense, but then again, nothing in this mushroom thing does.
