Dressing as a woman is harder.

Soooooooooo much harder.

Sooooooooooooooo much effort.

I really can't see the Doctor doing it.

I enjoyed the episode.

Excellent pacing, Capaldi mixing a bit of Tom Baker and William Hartnell in his performance, and Jenna Coleman (*sigh* <3) doing her awesome thing as always....and scary/interesting aliens as villains.

I also liked the way The Doctor kind of had a reality check with the false sense of hope he gives to some people whom he comes into contact with during dangerous moments. This might be a small arc for the character.

Of course, I'm looking forward to seeing what or who this Missy is.

Good. Very good. Almost eyebrows good! But, I reserve that top ranking for the very few stories that have a certain epicness about them. This came close to that mark though.

I very much enjoyed this and Clara was great throughout. There's no doubt that she's becoming more and more like the Doctor.

Guest cast all great. Story was both fun and creepy. I wonder if these new creatures will become a new threat? They could potentially threatened the established baddies in the universe. Interesting possibilities.

That is an awesome idea. Outside of "Doomsday", have we ever seen the Daleks fighting against a second alien race? I think it was a small aspect of "Planet of the Spiders" but that mostly the usual human resistance.

Could Missy be the TARDIS? Has anyone suggested this before?

A few weeks back I suggested that Missy may be an alternate TARDIS. Originally the Doctor died on Trenzalore and his TARDIS was left there to rot. 11 and Clara found that TARDIS, and Clara followed the GI into the Doctor's time stream and fixed it. One of the things she did was point the Hartnell Doctor to a different TARDIS then the one he was about to steal. Since he was granted new regenerations there is no rotting TARDIS on Trenzalore for the GI and Clara to enter, so she never entered his time stream and never pointed him to the correct TARDIS. My thought at the time was that Missy could be the original TARDIS trying to get back to the Doctor. Of course at the time all we had was Missy calling the Doctor her boyfriend, and that she liked the new accent. Given what we have seen since then I don't think that is the case any more.

At this point we're down to Missy being either the Mistress/Master (prime suspect), the Rani (more into science/chemistry, not the romantic type in any event), a corrupted Romana (which, assuming she died in the Time War, is not out of the realm of possibility if she's truly in 'Heaven'...), a regenerated/corrupted Iris Wildthyme (which would really be out of left field, but she is something of a Doctor groupie/stalker) or something ridiculous Moffat pulled out of thin air.

"Something ridiculous Moffat pulled out of thin air"? You mean a new character? How is that ridiculous?

Now I'm wondering what it might actually be like to encounter a 2d species. Surely this has been covered in sci-fi before?
Flatland.

Carl Sagan also discusses this in Original Cosmos.
I just wasted an entire afternoon watching the movie.

Thanks for that.
You're welcome.

The Movellans, in Destiny of the Daleks.

I definitely wouldn't have wanted a Rose Who, Martha Who, or Amy Who. But Jenna Coleman is such an incredibly charming and likeable actress that I'm not minding the extra focus on her character at all this season.

Except Rose and Martha each got turns at playing the Doctor when the Doctor couldn't.

For Rose is was in Series 4, the episode "Turn Left".

For Martha it was Series 3, the episodes "Last of the Time Lords". You can include Martha's time travelling the world tell the Doctor's story and giving the people hope (real hope and not lying to give them hope like Capaldi's Doctor) in the year that never was.

Donna BECAME the Doctor-Donna in series 4.

River is a Doctor-like character.

Sarah Jane had her own show where she was a Doctor-esque character.

I think Amy is the only one of the revived companions to not get a crack at the whips of taking the role of the Doctor for an episode.

Regarding Romana
Lalla Ward, the second Romana, is at least doing a voice-over as a character-perhaps Romana, perhaps not-for the Doctor Who exhibition, which will have some new footage of Capaldi using the various console rooms. Not sure if that means she'll be back though, but I think that might rule out her being Missy.

Nice episode. Not great but fun.

But what is up with the Doctor's hair at the end? It went from Flat to puffy. Was it so cold on the tardis that it made his hair flat and look like a completely different style? Or did it get 2ded someway?

Christopher Fairbank looks like an older version of his character from Batman 1989, baseball cap and all.

Graffiti kid would make a cool companion. Captain Jack would make an awesome one.

Missy. No idea.
